Ok, so I installed HI/LOW/FOG lights into my truck on sunday. When I hit unlock, the low beams flash bright but instantly dim (power save option I guess). So I checked their operation. No low...No High...Fogs work. I'm going to pull the headlights and check my wiring tonight, but any first hand tips that could be the case?

When you fire up HIDs, they will be insanely bright upon startup, then they will dim down to their normal operating brightness.

Odd that they worked, then nothing.......

How are they wired? Got a pic of your wiring harness?

I knew I should've taken pics of my install, but when I pop them out I'll snap some then. and the flash to dim is QUICK...like .5 second. Also, when I first installed them, everything worked fine.

Just had a buddy take a look while I flipped some switches. He said the lows were flickering and "trying to come on" then went out...and the brights would flash and go out. So yea, sounds like I need some resistors or capacitors. Anybody else have to install these?

My Fogs work just fine. If the capacitors I ordered don't work, then I'll pull the heads to sell off and keep the fogs. I'll let ya know when they come in.

ive had 5 sets and were all crap and customer service was a joke just saying

go retro or go home lol

I have 4 sets of DDM HIDs all with slim ballasts on my truck now. 3 sets of 55w and 1 set of 35w. They all work flawlessly, even the 35w in the reverse light and I've heard quick on-off with HIDs can be hard on them (2 months and counting on the reverse).

It's nothing against JJ because I know he just sells Retro Solutions, but I got better customer service from DDM. I called 3 times when I was trying to get my heads to work from them. Each time I spoke with someone who definitely knew what he was talking about. It's better than emailing back and forth with Retro Solutions, and it going 12-24hrs between each reply.

I finally gave up on DDM heads and got Retro Solutions for the low beam. Those are the only HIDs on my truck that aren't DDM. Guess what...I have a power issue or something because the heads aren't even working right now. In fact, I need to email Todd on that.

My Fogs work just fine. If the capacitors I ordered don't work, then I'll pull the heads to sell off and keep the fogs. I'll let ya know when they come in.

If the DDM lows won't work for you, DDM will let you send them back. You pay shipping, but they will refund your money. At least they did for me.

If you have a few minutes, call their support line. I think the guy that primarily deals with Ram trucks, his name is Bryan. He is really helpful and will troubleshoot yours with you.

In case anyone is wondering why I didn't call Retro Solutions when I was having problems is because of the hours they work. 8am-4pm EST. Well by the time I get off work and get home to work on my lights they are already closed for the day.

95% of the time.......the issues with the HIDs (that I see) are due to corrosion, which stems from the lack of using dielectric grease when installing. Drives me bonkers!

I get what you're saying, but it wouldn't make any sense to me why the fogs which have been in there longer are fine and they've come real close to going under in salt water....

Besides I haven't had the Retro HIDs that long....just since January I think.

And I don't live in a climate where we have to worry about driving on salted roads during the winter either. LOL

You'd be surprised how fast stuff can corrode, and not even with salt. I've seen it in the dead of the summer, in a few weeks. It just happens, dielectric is your friend. :D
