I'm all for proper retros but HIDs in our housings really aren't that bad.

Sure, a projector can be had for $130, but a new set of lights when not opened properly gets pricy. Our lights don't open easy and is definitely not a task for most...

Here is HIDs in halogen reflectors and projectors. Minimal glare, nothing like the Ford trucks.

If I had the time, I would have edited the exposure on all. These all were taken with the same manual settings and the exposure step at -2. White balance was manually set.

A 50 watt ballast will generally bring the temperature down about a 1000k...

Thank you for confirming everything Ive said. Very little blue in 6500 with 35w. None with 50w. You haven't proven anything I have said wrong yet. But I like when people find out for themselves. If you want Blue with a hint of white go with 8K and 35w. Or real blue with 10k and 35w...

To the OP... I dont care enough to find your quote to quote you but... Would I rather you crash your car vs me being blinded by your PNP HIDs with my 7 month old in the car and then can't see for 15s afterword and possibly hit something? Damn right... every time. Honestly I wouldn't mind giving you or anyone rolling around like that alittle nudge to help push u into the ditch. Its careless, unsafe and dangerous to all others around you that have no choice but be blinded by your headlights. I shouldnt have to encure a added risk bc you dont want to do things the right way.

For those that think I have anger issues... haha. I tried to be nice and explain why you dont do what he wanted to originally do. He took offense to "real people" as in people who modify their headlights for higher form and function correctly while being safe to other drivers on the road. Their is a reason why its illegal. Its also why LED light bars are illegal on the street.... same concept. For those who think I'm angry are butt hurt bc they prob never got beaten as a child or got trophies for just playing in the game. Get over it, you have to be hard and stern sometimes to teach someone the correct thing/way... tough love. For every idiot I can deter or put the correct information out there can possibly deter 10 or more people just visting or reading the thread from making the same decision... guess what happens when you multply that... MATH = lots more people. If you think my responses are bad I suggest you visit HIDplanet forums and read how they bash people... I'm being rather gentle.

Dude....you don't have to drop $600+.

Like blackbetty said.....you can swap in projectors for $130 or even cheaper if you want.

My projectors were like $35 off amazon lol

Ever had some douche-kanoosh (proper spelling btw) drive up behind you with bright ass HIDS in reflector housings? It's annoying as **** and shows that the driver was either A) a tad bit lazy B) tad bit broke or C)both.

You can still do the HID's just do it the right way brother :favorites13:

PREACH!!!!

Get a cheap set of ebay headlights, they open real easy. Swap $30 projectors and call it a day. Or get the 7.0s for much more light output for $100 more. 2 things I dont suggest cheaping out on is the projector and the bulb... even a cheap ballast can run a good bulb pretty well. Clearly your not broke if your driving a new ram around (they aren't cheap). $30 ebay projector will outperform your HID reflector headlights any day of the week and be safe.

WOW is all i have to say. I dont know if i have ever met someone so arrogant! You would nudge someone off the road to "protect" your baby? Sounds like your setting a great example for your kids of "if you dont agree with somehting go ahead and knock them down... even better try and physically hurt them." You must be a hillary supporter i suppose?

And yes i clearly and not poor because i bought this truck. However, i plan to stay comfortbale with my money and not drop a ton of cash into headlights.

I have looked at the write up on installing morimoto (i think) projectors in the quad housing. it looks manageable... but i also am nervous to bake my headlights and possible melt them. If it wasnt for that i would probably go for it. Plus there is other things i would rather buy....

For the time being im going to wait on HIDS/ LEDs/ projectors. Thank you for all the POSITIVE and HELPFUL input everyone!

Goood look on this. It definitly shows just how blue they are with 6500k. I may now consider that over 8500k if i eventually get HIDS. thanks!

Haha do u read what u write? Do u have children? Better question is what would I not do to "protect" my child? Answer is nothing, and any parent would agree. There lives become more important than your own or even the others you care most about... esp a stranger who puts him in danger. If I have my kid in the car and someone blocks me off and gets out of the car to start something I'm playing for keeps and I have the law on my side as "I'm protecting my child". I believe that if I don't agree with something I voice my feelings, it's up to the other person to decide what to do or how to react to what is said. I believe in standing up for what you believe and abiding by the rules when applicable and sound. You disregard the safety of others so what does that say about you? And to your kids if u have any or plan to?

If it's a mechanical thing and your not "capable" of making the correct changes then you shouldn't perform any. If you don't want to pay for it to be done correctly then you don't do it at all. Maybe I should pat you on the back and say... it's ok you don't have to follow the rules as that's the problem with young America where everyone feels entitled and wants the easy way out. No one is willing to work for anything anymore.

Only a trump supporter would saying something so ridiculous. The election was a decision between 2 kinds of ****, one peice of **** beat the other and we'll see how America fairs. Esp when trumps response to over sea violence is "to bomb the hell outa someone" or "tremendous" haha he's changed his views/statements almost as much as you have in this thread. Yet I'm arrogant. He didn't know what he was saying 90% the time. Fact checkers had a field day with him, I especially liked when he said he and his running mate haven't spoken in a while when he disagreed with the comment and proceeded to say he disagrees with his running mate on live tv. Maybe 4 years you'll see me running for presidency... he'll anyone can do it apparently... experience?... nope but I sept at a holiday inn last night!

It's been pointed out multiple times that it literally could cost you $30 to retrofit your headlights. Price is clearly not an issue "anymore" your mechanical abilities are clearly not there as your hesitant. Your the type of guy who keeps putting oil in something when it has a leak Instead of fixing the leak. Get a cheap set of headlights to swap, the added cost of the headlights means you keep your stockers in and swap them when your done and if u mess it up you don't ruin the more expensive and higher quality Mopar one. It's been stated as well many times here that the aftermarket are also much easier to open.

It's very simple, do it correctly or don't do it at all.

That's an opinion. Everyone has one, and they all may be different.

Sometimes it's best not to make a point if you don't have anything positive to add. If it's a discussion, pros and cons, it's more about the delivery of the message.

Why the heck was it even necessary to bring up Trump. He has nothing to do with this.

The OP was asking a question. Not asking to be judged and told what he is in your opinion.

You come across as a road warrior. You want to right people's wrongs. A bit of a vigilante. You want to put yourself in dangerous car nudging situations. A parent definitely shouldn't do that.

It's seriously OK to want to educate people. I educate my customers all the time, bit ultimately, they will do what they're going to do. But, you have to let them make their own decisions. You are not responsible for them.

Let's make this forum great again!

Just because I don't want to open a headlight housing and wire in a projector doesn't mean I don't hve mechanical skills... mechanical and electrical are much different. I do all my own maintenance from changing transmissions completely out to oil changes.

To everyone who is being helpful, and positive I thank you for that. I came here for advice and help not to be belittled. In the end I will do something for my headlights but for now I'm going to hold off.

Opinions are like a$$holes, everyone has one. Glad u posted what u did to prove my points. No vigilante here, just trying to prevent another HID reflector housing on the road. Color choice or not I could give 2 $hits... just the housing part. It's funny you bring up judging and then call me a road warrior/vigilante.

Side note, trump was brought up due to his Hillary comment which was quoted in his comment. If your going to comment make sure you read and know all the facts.

I want no responsibility for anyone here, it's not the point. But to turn a blind eye and not post the correct way to accomplish the OPs main point while
Making it safer for all others is irresponsible on my part. I'd rather say I tried than to never have.

To the OP, not fighting with u anymore but I fail to understand how opening a headlight has anything to do with wiring? It's literally 2 kinds of plastic glued together with tabs. Has no wiring or electrical at all. The projectors themselves have no wiring but the solenoid which you put out the back to plug in later. If your capable of plugging in an HID kit then your able to make the retrofit... given your mechanical knowledge. Transmissions are a hell of a lot more complicated and harder to remove and open. So...

I agree with blackbetty. If you want brighter headlights do it right the first time. If you decide to cheap out you'll be paying more in the long run due to replacing ballasts and bulbs every other month.

If you don't want to go through the trouble of adding projectors then I would suggest the opt7 LED's for $100. From what I've heard they're brighter than factory and don't blind on coming traffic if you aim them correctly.. Plus they're blue since that's your biggest concern.

I just can't fathom going cheap on something as critical as lighting. Maybe it's because I live in Alaska where it's dark 3/4 of the year....

I'm going to throw my .02 in on this. I stopped reading all the replies after page 3 since it seemed like everyone was arguing lol.

Anyways - I've been running DDM kits for a while now. Never had any issues. When I was younger (18ish) I had 10k HIDs in my halogen headlights in my 2007 Ram...they looked cool, but like others have said, in the rain and even in clear nights, light output sucked. I've since always ran 5k HIDs.

But if you're just wanting the blue tint, then I say do what you're gonna do and just see for yourself. It's not like you can't change the bulbs to a lower temp at a later date once you see you can't see well at night.

The led's glare more then hid's in reflecters in my experience.

Dear god that was a lot of reading. I learned 2 things from this post extremely long 6 page thread. One we are all getting old everyone keeps saying a "decade ago" lol. Second I think I fall into the Lazy/poor category by throwing LEDS in my reflective housing ha.

Anyways cheers to the viewers that will eventually get to page 6..

:happy160:

I would also like to note that this forum is so active its great for passing time lol
