Hey guys so ive been in contact with Josh from DDM Tuning. I have a 2016 Ram 1500 quad lights. As you know our lights are no bueno when it comes to actual output. Im not about to drop $600 for new projector lights so im going to go with HIDS. I have been reading reviews and looking ALL OVER. I have not seen any applications using anything higher temp then 6000K. DDM to the rescue! I am going to special order a kit from DDM with 8500K bulbs, Canbus HIDs, and the error eliminator all in one for $99 +free shipping. Im pretty excited to try them out. I love blue headlights but dont want to go TOO blue but definitly want a tint of blue. I will update this whenever they respond to me and i get the order shipped. It will probably be 2-3 weeks before i actually get them but figured id start this. I have not ordered them yet.... I know a lot of people have spoke highly of DDM. If you got any pictures of your DDM kit post them! And if ANYONE has a kit with 8000k, or 10000k HIDs PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post them and what kit you bought!

8500k+ is going to be super blue....damm near purple.

6000k has a blue tint.

8500 will definitely attract the popo and the light output isn't gonna be all that great.

Noboby reputable sells much above 6000k because the actual output drops alot, some less then stock. I would think a 35w 6000k would be the blue tint your looking for but its your call. Ill never run above 6000k, becomes useless and very hard to see in the rain/snow.

8500k will be very blue, although I'm not sure it'd be purple quite yet. Its also going to be bad for output, as others stated. Anything above 6000k and you start loosing lumens, and fast. Even 5000-5500k has a few less lumens than 4300-4500k, which is yellow-ish white but the brightest light.

DDM is a decent company. Overall reviews are generally positive, with a few bad experiences thrown into the mix. But every company that operates in huge quantities, such as DDM, will have some complaints. I've run their units before in past vehicles. Are they the best HIDs? No, they are not. But are they decent for the price? Generally, yes.

I agree with everyone else 8500k is going to be really blue. DDM tuning in my opinion has gone down hill in recent years. I use to put there HID's in my tuners but they never lasted after the outsourced to china. I went through 3 pairs before I gave up on them. Your better off with OPT7 leds @6000k.

It sounds like you want that crystal white look like lexus/audi. That look is pretty close to 6000k

Real people who know what they are doing don't do 8500k. I played with 8k almost a decade ago when I was running 55w kits to get closer to 6k. The output will be blue with maybe a hint of white. Output lumens will be so low you will see more with stock halogens. Don't bother.

I have at least 4 sets of DDM ballasts and bulbs. 2 35w digital slim kits and 2 55w digital slim kits. The cheap ones and non have ever given me a problem. The oldest set is over 7yrs old. But they all have limited run time and don't have 7yesrs straight on it. Point being for the price of $30-50 for a kit with bulbs they aren't bad but warm up time is crap.

Lexus and OEM HIDs are 35w and 4200/4300k and that is white with a hint of yellow but mostly pure white. Aftermarket can't produce 4200/4300 bulbs so they will market a 4500/5000k which is also pure white with a 35w kit. For max light output you want to be as close to 4200/4300k as possible. Like the morimoto 4500k and a 35w kit. If you go 50w the. Get a 5000-5500bulb and which will be close to 4000/4500k temp. That's your best bet. Going from a 4200/4300 temp to a 5500 temp you can expect a 400-500 lumen drop between a pair of bulbs. Which can easily be seen. 6000k is the highest temp I would ever run but only with a 50w ballast. I currently run 50w morimoto blasts with 5500k and it's white with a hint of yellow so it's closer to 4500k or OEM color and the highest possible lumen output. It's very bright and OEM looking. I also run 5500k in my fog retrofit with 45w hylux ballasts and it's the same 4500ish color and output. If your set on running 35w kit then go with 4200-5000k for max output and white light.

I have a kit from OPT-7, with 8000k lights, and they're the perfect blue. But my 1500 is a 2012. I'll try to take a pic tonight.

6K is the highest you should go if you actually want to see at night.

There is a reason it's hard to find lots of pics of that temperature, nobody wants to brag about it!

Your first post talked about poor OEM output and you wanted a tint of blue. Your kit is going to give poor output and more than a tint of blue.

It will appear bright, in the foreground. The throw isnt going to be all that great. The light spectrum you opted for doesn't do well at a distance. When the roads are wet, it's going to be way worse.

Here is a 5500 Kelvin bulb paired with a 35 watt ballast. It's blue.

Here is the same 5500 with a 4300 overlay
