So, here's my trucks issue. I have a 2024 2500 6.7L with 9600 miles on it. It's just over a year old. Back in November of last year, the truck wouldn't start. I checked the voltage and it was 12.7 volts, but it wouldn't even try to start. So I jump started it and went to the dealer. They said one battery was good, the other battery was completely dead. So they charged it ,and it tested good. Everything was ok until this morning, I tried to unlock it with the remote and nothing. I used the key to open the door to get the hood open and check the batteries are showing 3.72 volts.
It started perfectly 3 days ago. I did attach a jumper battery to it, to power up the system to make sure nothing was left on, everything was off.
This dying for no reason has me spooked. My wife and I are planning a really long trip, towing our trailer into a remote area of Canada. I don't want to wake up one morning and find dead batteries again, and be possibly hundreds of miles from anywhere.
Any one have a similar issue or ideas to what could be going on?

Get your batteries properly load tested. No idea what the dealer did, but I would start (no pun intended). You might have a bad battery that works fine for volts but can't hold amps.

The ole completely dead battery, charged and called good, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. If you planning on trip, IMHO, so humble, get you (2) New Batteries. When a battery goes bad, it also pulls down the other parallel battery. I would definitely get 2 new batteries, highest CCA you can jam in there and also carry a lithium jump box on your trip rated to jump a 6.7L Diesel.

Tron is right. In a 2 battery setup, one does not go flat on its own unless it is defective. Replace BOTH batteries and your problem will be solved. Never replace only one battery in a 2 battery system. If they don't cover this under warranty it is still worth fixing it right. You can use the one semi good one alone in a single battery application.

If you are travelling up here, carry a Noco 2000 amp jump pack. It will get you going and get you to civilisation. I have one in every vehicle I own.

The issue with warranty for a battery at a dealer is you drive the truck in it charges up a bit so our ****** testers that ram makes us use tells us GOOD re charge if the battery is on the cusp it will say its good. If you want them to fail both do a night drop so the truck sits/goes dead or tell the dealer you want to leave the truck a few days so it goes dead.

This has happened to me twice in my driveway. PU is just a year old. Will start with a jump. Not sure what the issue is. Don’t think I left anything on. I am also nervous. Going to order a NOCO 2000 amp lithium battery jump pack or something similar. Pretty cheap piece of mind as we are campers also.

There is a thread on this in the HD forum also.

They have those testers you plug in... one checks battery state of charge, another option is the batteries health...there are instances where the battery can start and hold the charge (state of charge can be 100%) but the actual STATE of HEALTH of the battery could be less than 30%... which needs to be replaced.

Parasitic draw check cables. Run battery tester it will tell you.
