Strange thing today -

2017 BigHorn 1500. 52000 miles.

Did not use the truck yesterday, sat inside the garage. Started it this morning, seemed to turn over slow, but it started.

Drove to the gym, about 15 minutes, left it there for an hour.

Came out, would not start. Had cables with me, got it jump started.

Called my nephew, he has a repair shop close by. He had a battery in stock, I stopped and picked up a new one. Will install it tonight after work. My guess is a cell went bad, but I would expected the battery to last another year or so.

Funny thing is, it worked fine Sunday morning, I was up in NH, it was -22 outside, started right up.

I'd make sure all grounds and the positive and negative battery terminal cables are securely connected. When I first picked up my truck it was at night ab 20 minutes away from my house. When I left the lot the truck started right up, but when I got home I noticed the headlights were a little dim. I went to go move the truck and it wouldn't start and it turned out the battery was dead. Ended up the positive terminal cable was loose causing the battery to make the circuit and let the lights work and the truck start but the alternator couldnt charge it. Stupid little 5 second fix but almost made me spend $200 on an alternator or battery or both

It’s normal, mine did the same thing around 55k. Lots of other folks on here had theirs go out around the same mileage. It could simply be something to do with the factory battery itself. I replaced mine with a Duralast Platinum. Let’s see how long this one lasts.. lol

Mine went dead at 36 months (almost to the day I purchased truck brand new). I’m in NH a lot also, definitely get an AGM battery. More power, longer warranty and higher cold cranking amps (CCA).

Battery Plus has Duracell AGM with 4 year warranty. $215 but apply coupon # CDP13175 in cart and get it for approx $180ish (after 20% off coupon + return old battery for core charge). Or step up to X2 Power premium for about $250.

Connections aren't dirty, could have worked themselves loose, but I think that is doubtful

Just went out and tried to start it, not even close to turning over.

This one is going in tonight. My nephew carries AC Delco, I have had good results with them in the past, and he gives me a good price.

Maybe I'll peel the stickers off... :peace:

My 17 went dead at about 40000 miles last summer. Replaced it with a 850 CCA Odyssey battery and all has been fine ever since. Autozone tested the old one and said it was fine within 3 days you could not even jump start the truck with the OE battery in it.

At the same time my daughters 2014 was still acting fine but I lost faith in the OE battery so I got her the same Odyssey battery also just to be sure

I have never had any faith in those battery testers. I've been burned a few times.
When in doubt, change it out.

I replaced the stock one after 22 months with a Autocraft Platinum AGM battery from Advance Auto Parts after I had to jump it couple of times in the last 5 weeks. Only 26k miles.
I had good results with them so I got one for my truck too.

Mine has been acting up cranking up slow for about a week. Then today after pumping gas on the slowest of the cranks she decided to let me know enough was enough with a p0562, lol.
To my surprise the factory battery had March 2014 in it so it lasted literally 6 damn years. I picked up a Duralast Gold from Autozone this afternoon so she's all good again.
