So I installed a Fastman TB a week ago and every time I am slowing to a stop at 30mpg and 10mph the rpms will jump and truck will lunge/jerk. It's really annoying and every once and a while when it downshifts it will downshift hard. Doesn't feel very good.lol

I disconnected the battery last weekend and seemed to be fine for a day. Im disconnecting again and see what happens.

Any other idea or thoughts.
If it keeps it up. Just going to take it off and maybe get a moes..

Thanks
Steven

Well moes has a better rep around but I googled fastman before I bought it read nothing but good things on other Hemi powered forums. I got it cheap so I said what the hell.

The performance feel is good, I can defiantly tell a difference driving for a few weeks now, but every time I slow down it's jerks.

I hear ya on keeping the wife happy. She dont mind too much, but with having a car payment now. It makes it a little tough to spend loads of money on it. SO I am going to have to take my time...

She does want me to get rims though. hahahahaha WOMAN.

does it have a knife edge on the plate? I had one from fastman with the knife edge and it would lunge forward to the point it was dangerous to drive in stop and go traffic, was a nightmare actually. Swapped one with the regular plate and it worked better as long as the throttle sensitivity on the Diablo was turned fairly low.

Im not sure. I've heard that saying before but I don't know what it is.
Does it have to do with the butterfly plate? Could I swap it out with my stock one from my stock TB?

That sounds exactly like what my truck is doing...

It also seem like it takes a little more throttle input to get the truck moving and when it does. IT GOES.

That is caused by the new blade that they use. These throttle bodies are extremely sensitive which is why we keep the stock blade on our TB's. If the computer senses any extra airflow at idle or low rpm settings, then it will surge and run rough.

they use a stock blade, he just grind the blade out the butterfly plate to a "sharp" edge to allow a more instant go, but mine jumped and bucked and lunged forward. Check and see if the plate has an edge, if it does that may be your issue and he practically welds the plate/ screws in there, have to heat the screws up before you can try to remove them and that makes them very easy to strip. I sent mine back and had him send me a new one, just paid shipping.

I will have to check this weekend and see.

Mine doesn't seem as bad yours, but it is aggravating.
You like he would replace a used TB in exchange for a another one?

When I bought mine through him I kept my old one as a backup so I just bought the new unit from him, when the one he sent acted like crap I called him up and sent the TB he sent back to him (mean while reinstalling the stock one) and he replaced the plate or just sent a new one back out within a week or so. Now I only drove it with the first TB he sent for about a week so I didnt put to many miles or gummed it up any.

Once again, another reason to shop at Moe's--they keep the factory blade in their ported TBs. :imo:

My 85 mm tb from fastman has the knife edge and I've had no issues with "lunging". Maybe just a fluke cause I have read a lot of threads about them.

it's really hit or miss, there are a handful that work fine but from what I had been told by then they get more complaints and issues with the knife edge than they did with the regular plate. It IS the stock plate, they just modify it for the knife edge.

Guess i should of returned my ported throttle body from Matt then.
I had terrible part throttle surging, and a truck that fell on it's face from 3500 to 4,000 after installing one of Matt's ported throttle bodies.
A little work smoothing and cleaning it up,made a night and day differance in how the truck drives.
The part throttle surging is noticably less, and the truck pulls clean from 3,000 through till it short shifts itself at 5600.
How do explain that one guys.
There's 2 edges to a throttle plate, one is the sealing edge, the other isn't,do not grind the sealing edge to knife edge the blade.
Grind the trailing lip to meet the sealing lip.
Also know of another truck with one of Matt's ported throttle bodies, and the guy was very unhappy with the results from bolting it on,he's much happier now after doing some work on it.
I looked at his ported throttle body from Matt, and it was pretty rude and crude for finishing, and the throttle plate also has a bunch of holes in it,that have been filled with screws then ground off, that one sure has me curious Matt, what's up with the extra screw holes if you're using the stock blade,as this blade in his ported throttle body looked like **** with the rig pig screw hole patch work
You need a tuner to take full advantage of the extra airflow.
If you don't add extra fuel to the mix, you're gonna have part throttle surging no matter who's throttle body you bolt on.
Just my .02

^ That "other" ported TB was not fro Matt @ Moe's, for clarity.

Sounds like Fastman was not careful enough to not affect the sealing edge. I did mine myself, have never done anything like that before, and got nothing but improvement over how the ported TB came to me by doing so.

Thank you for clearing this up. I was just about to ask who that customer was because we have sold more than 600 hemi throttle bodies, and I have yet to have a customer tell us that their truck surged or ran rough with 1.

I'm not sure where Hornet's TB is from.
Mine is not from Moe's, nor Fastman.

Mines from Matt at Moe's,and left a whole lot to be desired in drive ability when i got it.
It still needs a tuner to work properly, but it works noticably better after polishing and knife edging

I thought Audio's was from Matt's too,but apparently i made a mistake.
His throttle body was very rude and crude in finish when i first looked at it.

With a little coaching/advice and borrowed tools Audio did a very nice job on his throttle body, and i think he's very happy with his results.
