I know this has been asked before yet I need clarification. I'm purely speaking of keeping my stock PCM on a shelf and swapping in a Diablo PCM. It's my understanding that on hellcats and others, it throws a p1400 code that alerts the dealer. Even if you were to swap back your stock PCM, it still alerts the dealer.

I'm reading conflicting information. Some are saying the Ram does not throw that code, yet still alerts the dealer after swapping back to stock. Others are saying even after you swap back in the original PCM, it still shows there was modification done. (albeit many claim the cluster updates the stock PCM after 20 miles or so so it appears untouched?)

Any help or thread I missed would be greatly appreciated! Trying to decide if it's worth getting a tune, or just sticking to a pedal commander for now.

The PCM records the mileage on the vehicle--so does the speedometer--if they don't match they will in all probability ask for an explanation if they check it. If the warranty claim is large enough I assume that they will check this/or the factory will ask them to check. The last information I heard is that the Ram trucks do not throw the p1400 code.

I read that after 20 miles with the old stock PCM the speedometer/cluster resends the new correct mileage. Though not sure if this is true....

Not looking to void warranty..

I don't think that information is correct. You might check with one of the techs that are on this forum though. "Tachtech" should be able to tell you for sure.

If you worried about your warranty, take a look at the Pedal Commander as an alternative. NO footprint.

Bump, I was also wondering if I could do this, but with a 2012 (since you don't have to swap PCM's), by buying another PCM to keep on hand for warranty work.

This may be stupidly wrong, but I at least want to check.

You won't need another PCM. You just use the programmer to return your vehicle to stock before you make a dealer visit.

Once they are done you can install your programmer back on the truck.

Flashing the tune takes like 10 mins. It's really not a problem.

I thought they (the tech/dealership) could tell when you did that?

Not with the right programmer...i.e., a Diablosport unit.

Well I am convinced. Gotta add one to the list.
