I have a strange issue. I've had the truck for a few weeks (on the road anyway), and the last few times I filled up the truck stalled about a mile later. Once it did it after the pump shut off because I actually left the truck running. it starts back up, but I have to give it gas or it will sputter and not start. Once started, its fine and no more problems. Any ideas?

Its a 2004 laramie qc sb. 5.7 hemi, AWD

Sounds like the gas tank vent valve might be stuck creating a vacuum in the tank. Have you tried checking for codes?

No, I haven't. Maybe I'll stop at advanced or auto zone in the way home from work and have them check. There are no lights on, but it's worth a shot.

Gat a new gas cap. If that solves the issue then you are set. If not then suspect the fuel pump. That is not an easy fix seeing as you have to drop the gas tank to get too it.

Ugghhh. Really hope it's not the fuel pump. I'll see if there are any codes first, and go from there. Just a gas cap would be great though.

Well, no codes at all. Didn't spring for the gas cap yet. Someone else suggested the gas tank vent also. Not sure what it looks like or if I can even do anything with it, but I'll be looking into it.

Same problem on a 2004 1500 4.7l . From my research it is fuel getting into the vapor canister. Proper fix is to replace the canister and be careful not to overfill. My solution is to stop 2 gallons short of full. Haven't had a problem since I started doing that.
