Not bad!

What do you guys think?

I did see that the average MPH is 61, which is definitely not 75, like the gauge leads you to believe. So 27.4 MPG @ 61 MPH , is a little easier to attain then 27.4 mpg @ 75 mph... but still not bad.

Will this have more hp/torque than the HEMI?

The 3 Liter Diesel has more torque,But the Huge difference is where it makes power lower RPM than the hemi.
Power (SAE net): 240 hp at 3,600 rpm
Torque (SAE net): 420 lb-ft at 2,000 rpm

The Ram 1500 receives a new base engine for the 2013 ... at 5.7 liters. This HEMI engines makes 395 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 407 foot-pounds of torque ...

If this eco diesel would have been available when I bought my 2500 I would have chose the 1500 because I really do not need a 3/4 ton truck.

I can't wait to test drive on when my dealer gets one. I really like where I'm headed with my 2500 so I'm not sure that I will consider trading right away. But give it a few years and who knows... :)

I have been waiting for these to come around I will deff be considering looking into trading up to one. Even at 75 mph I can't see the mpg dropping a horrible amount.

The average 61 mph and his present speed are an interesting mix. Wonder how long he was driving at highway speeds and how much city driving. Looks like a pretty high average for the mix which is good news. One can only speculate how close to 30 or above one might get doing mostly freeway driving.

I def wanna see what the aftermarket is like for the 1500 diesels in the next year or so. Once there is a firm aftermarket support for these engines then I will go out and test one. hopefully these will be capable to put out power like an ecoboost with bolt on's ! however without the terrible exhaust sound lol.

How does it sound? Personally, I didn't like the sound of my old Ecoboost F150. And if this sounds anything like the old 3.7 ctd that was in the Liberties and such, I'll pass.

Hopefully with a tune and what not it'll be able to run what an eco does stock, 9sec 0-60 this truck can barely get out of its own way

Probably a little bit faster than the HD's, so it is right in the ballpark for a diesel.

Remember this is less than 1/2 of the displacement and almost half the horsepower and torque of the of the big diesels.

Guys/Girls

Sorry to the op for getting off subject.

I am so sick of guys obsessed about 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times!

Its a DAMN truck!!

If you are really that obsessed with 0-60 times you should have purchased something more aerodynamic than a damn truck which is about as aerodynamic as a BRICK!

The bottom line is a diesel has the power/torque where you need it at low RPMS for towing and hauling.

I will probably getting hate post for this but here goes.

I recently was on a trip from Fishkill Ny to Conway SC (home) running down I95 early one Sunday 5:00am before the roads got busy with Sunday drivers.

Along the way I was running with several guys with Hemis, from 65-75mph 1700-2000rpm is the power band of stock 6.7 Diesel is, I could pull away from the hemi's to about 105mph then the hemi guys would have more power left because the hemi makes it most power at 5,600 rpm and still accelerating.

During one of these runs I kept my foot in it to 120mph when I decided that was fast enough for highway driving, at 115 the hemi caught me and took till 120mph to pass me.

The 3 of us ran together for 2hrs taking turns leading, posted speed limit 70 we averaged about 82 I was getting about 14mpg at that speed.

I was impressed my 3/4 ton carrying about 1200lb did so well.

I can only imagine a tuned 6.7 making 600-800 hp is like!!!

Thank god I have out grown my need for speed I once had, and I am still alive to talk about it.

It's right about where the old 5.9's were in early '00 minus the weight. My father in law has an 01, until recently I had never driven it with the chip off, I honestly thought something was wrong with it. Was an absolute dog, amazing what a tune does for diesels.
I didn't mean anything by the 0-60 time, it just seems if you were to tow anything it would take forever to get up to speed.

I would consider the diesel but I don't think it'd pay for itself in the time that I keep my vehicles. 3 years 50-60,000 miles... I pay more for the diesel option and then more for the fuel. Sure, it gets better MPG, but it would have to be CONSIDERABLY better than it is.

That being said... I LOVE the idea of it!

I was going to wait for one but was too impatient. Next time! (maybe). Either way, 27MPG is exactly what or previous Mazda 5 wagon with a 2.5L 4cyl got. That's amazing.
