Have had this pinion leak for about 1000miles now. Started right after I changed the diff cover and fluid. Figured I over-filled it the first time so it puked it out. Now it seems to leak out when the truck is driven hard and/or towing, and the fluid gets hot (expands). It’s not leaking from the seal itself, the seal and carrier are dry, it’s coming from where the driveshaft meets the pinion. Found a pic of it on Google, I forgot to take my own…

Any thoughts?

While you're at it, make sure the breather vent for the diff is clear. Blow through it. If they get plugged (insect build a nest in it) then the heat from the pumpkin as you drive will expand and the air pressure will (can) force diff fluid out of the seal. You might want to check that first since it doesn't cost any money. Guys who off-road have this happen too when mud gets in the diff vent. Not that uncommon. If you replace the seal, go with a Mopar one, not a part's store seal. Mopar stuff is superior quality and when it comes to a pinion seal, there ARE differences. Rock Auto has them.

Good luck.
