Hi all. My 4th gen Ram is a Canadian model that uses the high beam as DRL. I have aftermarket headlights that use LED bulbs, and DRL flicker like a strobe light. Are there any options for me to disable them? Anything like AlphaOBD?

Not sure if Alfa can change the country code from CA to USA as that is what they did on my truck to turn on DRL, at the time my USA truck did not come with them turned on, all they did is changed the country code from Canada too USA...

DO NOT CHANGE THE COUNTRY CODE!!! One it isn't required and two, you can create other issues you don't need. Also, if you have warranty, power train warranty or extended warranty you can end up with problems claiming on them. With few exceptions, U.S. vehicles drop their warranty when brought to Canada and same the other way round.

I fixed my Canadian truck to have the Optional DRL capability without changing the Country code.

The default OE setting specifically for DRL is set to Canada but that's nothing to do with the Country Code setting.

In AlfaOBD, within the DRL settings, you can select 'Optional DRL'.

I added the Customer Setting Menu (CSM) option for my 8.4C Uconnect radio.

This provides the option to enable or disable the DRL feature using a soft switch on the radio.

The flicker may be more related to the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signal which is to reduce the average power consumed by the OE halogen lights.

Do your high beams flicker when the high beams are selected or only during the DRL function?

If they flicker with normal high beam use, you could try selecting the LED setting for high beams using AlfaOBD.

After touring the AlfaOBD BCM options for 2006-2012 Non-PowerNet, the options are signficantly different from my '21.

I can't find any LED options for the Headlights but I do see an HID setting, which should disable the PWM signal.

Then again, if you fix the high beam flicker, your high beams will blind everyone during the daytime because the LED cannot produce a lower output like the halogen. It's fully on or off.

Another option is to select the turn signals as the DRLs, that's how my truck is configured.

Or, you could choose to have the fog lights as DRLs, if you have them.

And this would maintain your legal compliance with having functional DRLs.
