That’s my last resort plan.. I’d prefer to figure a workaround to shut it off..i dont think the 3rd brake light is regulated by law, but take some plasti-dip and paint the 3rd brake light black and no light will show through it, and you will never see the dip since the camper shell will cover it
Leaving it connected and in operation creates a wicked glare on the back truck glass and front topper glassleave it connected? I'm guessing because it's a federal law thing there probably aren't any workarounds.
I think your Mis understanding what I’m asking ..I thought it was a federal thing, but my research says it varies from state to state. I stand corrected. But, it is something all new cars have, and I'm willing to bet aftermarket bed toppers have provisions for the 3rd light.
I think your Mis understanding what I’m asking ..
Yes the topper has a third brake light.. dodge is even nice and stubs the signal wire out for the third brake light to make it easy to connect .. the issue is with the trucks 3rd brake light when it’s connected and under normal operation with the truck topper on it reflects off the topper and created a wicked glare that I’d like to eliminate ..
That’s a possibility I do remove the cap some so I was ultimately hoping there was a magical fooler module you couple plug in that made the truck think it was connected ..
I don’t follow your train of thought on the rear view but whatever works for you I supposeIt's strange your getting a glare, I have a Leer 100XL and have yet to notice a glare.
If anything turn the rearview mirror downwards, it's pretty much only good for seeing what's in the back seat. If you think the rearview mirror is good for driving, your fooling yourself and a danger to people around you.
If your complaining about a glare from the third brake light, it's most likely while your attempting to use the rearview mirror to see what's behind/along side you.I don’t follow your train of thought on the rear view but whatever works for you I suppose
Wierd I’ve had caps for years and use a rear view mirror every day during light and dark hours .. shell doesn’t obstruct my view at all.. the ridiculous headrests in the back is a different story those were removed Day 1 due to car seats and no need for them
