So after researching flares I made my purchase off paintedflares.com.

I ordered them off of the site because I didn't want to find a shop to paint them for me after receiving them.

I ordered them on May 17th and got to my door June 9th. I only mention that because I saw a few guys messaging them to find their order without response.

My question is what is the consensus on prepping the truck for the install? I think someone had mentioned installing some type of clear coating to prevent rust and scratches if the flares are removed?

Tips? Tricks before during and after install??

Thanks

Look at a little less than the halfway mark in this thread. JB1 shows the Xpel film he used to protect the paint from the flare rubbing through the clear. I used his same process but used 3m film I found on Amazon. Worked great you can barely even notice it on mine even with having a black paint.

Can you check and repost the website for me? "paintedflares.com" doesn't come up with a valid website. Thanks!

The notes for the 2500 flares say they will not fit a 1500. I thought the 2500 flares were better for the 1500 sports because of where they ended vs the 1500 flares which go all the way down in the front.

This is my own opinion but when I see 2500 flares on a 2500 everything lines up perfectly.

When I see 2500 flares on a 1500 it just doesn't look right.

do you have to drill holes in the fender? If so...who cares about the paint.

If they are factory flares you shouldn't have to drill holes. They use 2 sided tape and you use the existing screws that hold the wheel well liners in place.

Yes 3500/3500 flares fit on 1500s but 1500 flares do not fit on 2500/3500. Has to do with where the flare ends around the headlight.

That's a common misconception with these flares. The "bolts" around the flare are for show and do not come out the other side of the flare. There is no drilling required. They attach with the existing holes in your fender liner, and 3m double sided sticky tape. No drilling, cutting or anything needs to be done.

I love how the prices are all listed as $249

https://www.paintedfenderflares.com/collections/frontpage

That is, until you click on the model you want and then the price is $399... What a scumbag, clickbait thing to do. I absolutely hate when company's pull this crap. Advertise one price, only to get you to their site, where it's almost DOUBLE the price they first said it was. Unreal.

Unreal. Company sounds super shady and I wouldn't be surprised if one day they disappear and all the customers with outstanding orders not received yet will be beat for their money. Happens all the time with online company's!

Typically, you don't charge sales tax online unless you have a physical store that sells the items you're selling online. They have an address, but they only sell online. You can validate this by taking note that on Amazon you won't be charged sales tax unless the distribution center that you're item is coming from happens to be in the state you're in.

There is really nothing WRONG with charging sales tax, however; they aren't even registered as a business under " painted fender flares " , they aren't paying that sales tax to the texas comptroller nor do they appear to have a license under that name with the city of houston, or harris county. So yeah, they are charging sales tax, and basically pocketing an extra 40 bucks per sale.
