DIY interior door handle bezel led help

I’m looking to add a pre wired 3mm led to into the interior door handle bezel to our 23 1500 classic tradesman. My goal was to have the lights illuminate the same way as the window switch LEDs that only illuminate when the head lights are on.

I’ve been probing the wire harness in the driver to start with multi meter to see what wire only has power when the headlight is on. So far no luck. I found the orange and blue wire has the 12v when the truck is set to on and shows 12v no matter if headlights are on or off

I saw a wire diagram here for a 2023 that shows the orange/grey wire is illumination but I can’t get a read of it or Get a led to light up with.

I also read online this which I don’t know is true or not.

• LIN Bus Controlled Data: The master window/lock switch assembly functions as a smart node (often referred to as part of the Driver Door Module architecture). When you turn on your headlights or adjust the dashboard dimmer dial, the Body Control Module (BCM) sends a digital command via a LIN Bus data wire to the switch panel.
• Internal LED Control: An integrated circuit (microchip) inside the switch interprets that digital message and directly applies power or drops the ground to the internal LEDs soldered onto the circuit board.

Because of this data-driven setup, there is no single external "illumination wire" behind the door panel that you can tap into or ground out to manually trigger the backlighting.

Has anyone successfully found a way to wire it up so it acts like an oem light function? I know I can wire it directly to 12v wire I found but that just means the light is all the time.

I also saw something about controlled by the pwm and that’s why the volt meter if giving a non existent reading.

Any advice would be appreciated

Can you just piggyback off the window switch assembly?

That’s what I’m trying to do but only thing I can find is a 12v that is one with the ignition. That would mean the led would be on always and want to make it so it’s only on with the headlights like the lights built into the window switches themselves
