They're just being jack asses. We have a 2012 ram 2500 Cummins with a 5" lift and all of the warranty is in tact. There are also several members who have done the same thing.

The consumer is protected by the Magnuson-Moss Act of 1975...they would have to prove that any aftermarket parts you installed or had installed contributed to any failure you claim against the warranty...

This is what they told me word for word no ********* guys. " If i do a cold air and a few months down the road my tranny starts having problems they are going to relate my tranny problems to the increased horse power and say its not warranty." Unless i use mopar parts.

LOL...your trans can handle more HP than any cold air intake is gonna add.

Ehhh that's iffy. People have broken the 545rfe with the stock 345 hp hemi and have broken them with the new 390 hp stock. It's luck of the draw

they would have to prove that the cai caused the failure to not cover it under warranty, they are just trying to scare you so you buy their overpriced "mopar" CAI

or their 4" mopar lift, etc.

If you lift your truck, and something in the suspension or drive train breaks, they can/will refuse to honor the warranty for those parts by saying the vehicle wasn't designed for such mod's.
But if the modifications were done by a professional mechanic with manufactured parts that are produced by a SEMA product MFG,they would have to prove it in court to void your warranty.
If you alter a part it can void your warranty, but if you replace it with an aftermarket part it hasn't been altered,it was replaced.

I've had warranty issue's in the past with the big 3 with things that were done to the vehicles.Any of the major aftermarket mfg's love backing you up in court with a burden of proof for the car mfg's to prove that the aftermarket stuff caused the failure.
99.9% of the failures, are just caused by the cheap parts that the car mfg's use in the first place.

Go to just about any dealers lot,and there will be a brand new truck setting on their sale lot with a lift kit, bigger tires, etc. Most are aftermarket kits, that were installed on the vehicle at the dealership by their techs. Those vehicles still have all of the factory warranty if you buy them.
It's no different if you have an outside shop do the work.
Now if you,DIY,and your not an ASE certified mechanic, you could have problems.Legally, you not qualified to perform this task, when it comes down to a warranty issue.

I would go with Daystar, atleast that's what I went with and what most Dodges are if you buy them off the lot already with a leveler.

First like other posters have said they have to prove that it was the aftermarket parts that caused the issue and they must give that to you in writing. You could also go with a pro-comp system, I hear they have their own 5 year 60k mile warranty to cover the parts and problems that occur because of their lift. They way I understand it to work is the as long as you are under 60k in mileage they cover you until you reach 60k or your truck turns 5 years old.

It really is not luck IMO. I have owned Chrysler products all my life and so has my family. We have only had issues with two transmissions and they are vehicles we bought used and for $5000 or less. If you change the fluid and filters regularly and you use tow/haul when towing and treat the truck like it is valued by warming it up in cold weather especially they will last as long as any other. We have never had issues with the Rams '04, '07, pair of '09's (did torque converter for that rumble issue many have had in mine) or the '05 Durango and all had the Hemi and 545RFE they all had varying mileage from 27k to 120k and all did a fair amount of towing once a week or so. Torque management is a big reason these transmissions last and although it can be annoying it has saved Chrysler millions in warranty work I would bet. I just feel that like anything operator and maintainer are a large part of equation.

When i was looking into buying a truck i called one of the two Ram dealers here in the valley. They also deal Chevy/GMC, and i asked about their modified trucks up front and if they would change the nerf bars and flares if i would make a purchase. They claimed that they wouldnt put hand to them because the trucks warranty was overlapped by the warranty of the shop that performed the mods. In this case it was Trucktoyz and 4x4 Wheels and Parts. The trucks were out of my range $$$ so i didnt insist. They were probably BSn me

I didnt mention but of course they were lifted atleast 6 inches.

My truck came with a 4" lift and 35" tires that they installed before I bought it. They told me that they would warranty everything for 3 years or 36000 miles.
