My 2020 CTD was on the freeway and a notice came up that said an automatic regen was happening and to maintain highway speeds. 10 minutes later it pug the vehicle into limp mode and said to take it to the dealer. DPF gauge said 100% full.
Who ran two manual regen cycles and ran it for 40 miles. They replaced the fuel filters and air filters and said the fuel filter near the tank was pretty funky. Cost about $1000. They also replaced the recalled fuel pump. (Which hadn't failed.)
Now it regens every day and the DPF gauge occasionally goes to zero right after s regen, but mostly shows 5 or 20 % and up to 50% full. Typical regen is 15 miles or so.
The truck is about 50% towing miles with a 4500 pound trailer, and some towing a bit heavier. It doesn't get used for much short trips.
We live in Flagstaff at 7000 feet, so it is a cold-climate truck for the most part.
I never paid to much attention to the DPF gauge, because it always read zero before. Now it's seldom zero for long.
The DPF filter is under warranty, but the dealer says it isn't throwing any codes and nothing is wrong.
Is the DPF filter trashed? My wife is scared to take us on a long trip because she thinks it will leave us stranded and needing to get towed to a dealer and then wait a week for a new exhaust filter. How long will it run in limp mode before it shuts down?
