I had to replace the tie rod a few month’s ago on my 12’ which weren’t “supposed” to be affected. When I picked up the part the parts guy informed me that FCA had put out a bulletin suggesting that the entire assembly be replaced. ie, both tie rods, drag link and steering stabilizer. He was a School friend and gave me the parts at dealer cost but since it wasn’t recalled no reimbursement, Either way it’s fixed.

I spread the word, and a bunch of people started replacing with either the 2019+ OEM or the Synergy version (which I don’t recommend).

What don't you like about the Synergy drag link?

I don’t particularly care for any of their parts. all I did was listen to people at PWIM complain about how this could have been designed differently, or this joint that failed, or how the OEM part that it replaced was actually superior and they wished they knew that ahead of time.

Yeah ramcares just picks random people to help out with this drag link issue. The dealership had to weld mine the day before I bought my truck and I was told at a later date there would be another recall on it to fix it correctly...... a bunch of BS. With the nut welded there’s no way to center the steering wheel during an alignment! So now every time we have an alignment done we get to pay extra for the alignment shop to cut the weld and then re-weld it. Also every time that drag link is welded on it is weakened!!!!!!! I tried to contact ramcares about getting my drag link replaced with the newer style but I couldn’t get a reply from them. I don’t understand how they can get by with just replacing a few of them for certain people??!??! If they are willing to replace any of them then that means that they know, and acknowledge, the original recall didn’t actually fix the problem and they’ve left 99% of their trucks out on the road with an unsafe drag link!

Anyone is welcome to ask us for help. I don't see a message from you but am happy to help if you send us one. We can get a new drag link.

For anyone wondering this is what it will look like after they do the recall. The first sign of wear on the tie rod end I'll probably just get the newer 2019+ version like they put on my father's 2018 3500.
