i doubt cummins has changed the oil plug, so its most likely a 3/8" ratchet, no socket.

Dude!!! Do yourself a hugh time saving AND MESS SAVING favor! Order the Fumoto quick drain valve TODAY!! Secure the quick valve with a small adjustable hose clamp and keep it on the down low. You will love this gadget after you use it the first time. No Nipple No hose! Trust me and you can thank me later.

The Fumoto valve is pretty nifty. I had one on my cummins.
Used a little ring clamp and wala, no possible way if it coming open.

I looked and just cant bring myself to use one for fear of it coming open

Then should make it with a plug that can be put in so can pull plug and then open valve to drain

Would be simple to make to use the drain plug that was removed from the oil pan to instal

If you get the valve with no nipple on it there really isn't much hanging down. I never felt the need to put a hose clamp around the valve and went through a lot of corn fields after harvest without any troubles, it stays pretty solid in the pan.

Big difference between driving in a corn field and driving in the oilfield where locations are always muddy with big potholes and rock all around

They are probably a great drain valve for those driving on hwy but I would have a real hard time with one in an offroad application
