I just bought a 2026 3500 Cummins. I was thinking of putting one of those magnetic drain plug in. Has anyone done that, any issues? If you have, what torque did you set it to?
Thanks

It won't cause any issues. It's a drain plug. Don't overthink it. Torque would be the same as it is for the factory drain plug, but I use the same torque spec as @06 Dodge on all my drain plugs lol.

Waste of time/money. IF you do your own oil changes….you want a FuMoto oil drain valve.

(OIl drain plugs do not “see” very much of the oil until its drained. The circular “do-nut” magnets that sit on top of the oil filter might be useful, …but if you do much investigation you’ll find a magnet does nothing for longevity…. it only shows you a bunch of metal when you investigate that knocking sound that’s already developed.

Best addon you can do to simplify oil changes on these poorly designed oil drain locations. I also found a soft funnel that will fit over the filter. It has a long spout. I pull down the edge and punch holes in the oil filter and let it drain.. when i unscrew and remove i get no mess from it either.

Another “trick” which can work is to use a large/gallon zip-lok bag over the filter as it is removed. The bag can contain the filter and the oil inside.

Spin on cap for filter so once you drop it down the oil left in the filter is sealed inside as you put it sideways to get it out on these 6.7's. No mess. LINK

If you want a magnet to catch stuff in your oil, I would stick on outside of oil filter itself. Simply swap to the other filter when it's time to change the oil. LINK

Fumoto valve all the way! Yes it does drain just a little slower than a std plug being removed, but so worth it. 6.7 takes the F104 series with 3 options for outlet neck. F-104S Link

Edit: Oh and don't forget the oil filter wrench to save some time putting on/off LINK

Fumoto website to verify your plug size (for any vehicle) LINK

I seem to have more of a wreck when I try things like that, I did make up a plastic jug from orange juice ,I think that did help .
