I have a 2022 2500 6.7 diesel limited 25k miles on it. Had the same issues. Mine was the cat was clogged. They replaced the exhaust from the cat back. So far mileage has climbed 10mpg i bet i will have to don this again in the future

I'm on my second DPF in my '22 dually at 27k miles. It's acting up again. The truck literally has never been driven without the 16k TH.

This has been by far and away the worst vehicle I've ever owned. That's saying a LOT, I bought a new Vega back in the day. Even my dealer is getting annoyed at the endless repairs on emissions and all the electronic garbage.

It will be sold before the emissions warranty is up likely for, and it will not be great for towing our TH, a Ford 7.3 gasser unless something radically changes on emissions systems.

RAM is having nothing but trouble, GM is worse and Ford isn't much better with this emissions nonsense. We put a man on the moon in 1969, build thermonuclear weapons that can destroy the planet but can't build an emissions system that's nothing but grief.

I'm having much the same issue with my 2020 3500. Oddly enough, it only seems to happen when we come up to northeast Oregon in summers. Not to long after we arrived in the spring, the regeneration signal popped up. The first couple times it happened, I just kept driving and it cleared then I got the exhaust filter full see dealer. The dealer wants me to spend $2500 to replace it. I found a fuel additive mentioned in one of the other discussions that I added and things cleared up for awhile. Now it is telling me the fuel filters need service. The truck has 90k miles on it. The only time this problem comes up is up here in Oregon. Driving around in Texas or California where we spend most of our other time this never comes up. This is getting real old. I wonder if the lack of use and the higher altitude contributes to the problems here.

So I take it you just show up when you need help; helping others isn't part of the equation?

My suggestion, delete the truck or sell it and get a new one.
WoW!! You are not very nice.

Fuel filters should be a separate issue. How long between change intervals?

Here is latest on the erratic behavior of this truck.
1) sometimes it will indicate its in regen mode.
2) then it says the filter is nearing full keep driving etc.
3) then it will say exhaust filter full see dealer
4) then this morning all messages were gone said "NO STORED MESSAGES." i drove it for about 50 miles and this message showed up "EXHAUST FILTER FULL SEE DEALER"
Given all this i highly suspect that there is a sensor somewhere that is bad.
I have also read that there is probably a GROUND WIRE loose somewhere. Have not been able to locate a wiring diagram that will show all gounding points. So if anyone knows, please direct me to it.
Thanks to all for suggestions. Also, to those who posted that you have issues with this DPF thing, i do feel your pain!!
The frustrating part is not knowing HOW to fix it all, and dealing with these dealers?? Well, thats frustrating too BC they should know how to fix it, and they can't or won't.

Have you tried the stationary desoot and DPF replace function yet? I doubt it's a bad ground or wiring issue, that will usually get you a sensor circuit low type fault, not that it couldn't be but that's not where I am leaning.

If it only happens when your in Oregon then I would suspect its our poor quality bio diesel we are force to use, some place sell B-20 an don't clearly post it an IMO that stuff should only be used if your driving at hwy speeds for the whole tank...

Not yet. I have purchased the ALFAOBD app and the tablet to install it on and just so busy with other stuff. My plans are to invite my mechanic friend over and get him to help me use my new tools and we will do a manual regen/DPF replace thing to see if that will help. There are just so many things it could be and any move to fix it is just a shot in the dark. I will just replace every sensor one at a time until i hit paydirt.

I would have the dpf cleaned and pull the intake horn off the grid heater to see how clogged it is. If air flow is blocked, the fuel cant burn and will soot up the dpf.

He already replaced the DPF.... What he didn't do (we don't think) was perform the DPF replace function on the computer to reset the differential pressure tables when it was replaced. This is critical when replcing the DPF.

Did you also purchase a security Bypass cable like this one that is needed for all 2018 and newer trucks: https://www.kaodtech.com/product-page/security-module-bypass

Yes, i am looking into that grid thing. In my research i see there is a bolt that can come loose and end up in #6 cylinder. Will check that out too.

I was just reading a post about a BCM and its function and it brought up the question of just what function does that BCM play. I also was wondering just where all the messages i am getting are coming from concerning the DPF. So, question is, are these messages coming from the PCM or the BCM? I am pretty sure all the DTC's come from the PCM. So when a sensor fails i assume that the BCM detects it and sends the message to the PCM which then creates the DTC? Any info to clarify would be much appreciated.

The manufacturer of the grid heater "fix" is really good at mass panic advertising. They themselves state right on their website that they have only documented about 200 instances of the grid heater bolt doing that but still keep saying everyone needs to do it. That's out of 40,000+ Ram 3500 trucks made since 2014. The exact numbers built/sold by Ram are unknown by the public but it might be higher, so whether total or per year just makes their numbers statistically even less significant.

Even if you move to the 7.3, you're going to find out quickly that the 10speed transmission has as high a chance of failing as the emissions systems. Same with GM.

Every manufacturer has issues right now, and in terms of the emissions systems, they have to keep trying to improve them to keep mother EPA happy. Don't blame the manufacturers because what the EPA would love is to get rid of diesel altogether. That's been their goal for decades now. It's a moving target that all diesel manufacturers are struggling to keep up with.
