I'm replacing both u-joints on my driveshaft and would like to know how to get it off the truck? I know about the 4 bolts on the aft u-joint, my question is once you remove those bolts how do you get the driveshaft out?

After you remove the bolts, use a large screw driver or prybar in behind the rear universal joint between the Pinion nut to slide the front drive shaft yoke into the transmission. This will give you the clearance you need.

**It's a good idea to wipe off the front yoke before sliding it into the transmission. It will keep grit and dirt from messing up the seal. Put a pan under the rear of the transmission. You will lose some fluid.

While in the shower, it came to me to add: Block your tires and set the eBrake. Once you take out the drive shaft, "Park" will not stop the truck from rolling.

Make sure it's not parked with the front wheels higher than the rear, or some fluid may run out of the transmission.

Like said above, keep the driveshaft yoke clean. NEVER allow it to dip into gravel or dirt. Keep it clean. You don't want any of that in your transmission.

I don't know the answer to this, but are OEM u-joints set with plastic, or just clips?

Good time to also replace the rear transmission seal the drive shaft yoke slides into as a preventative measure.
