I really want to lift the ram this summer. To me these trucks looks best with 4" w/35's or 6" w/37s.

I only want to run a 35" tire. So a 4" lift. Problem is most 4" lifts are about $100 cheaper than a 6". So it's like "well that's stupid to get a 4" when a 6 is just a couple bucks more. But I know if I do that I won't be happy with 35s and I'll want 37s. Then I'll want to regear. Then while I'm in there I'll want some super duper locker. Then I'll have to match the front. Then I'll have to buy a cap so I can live in it.

Maybe, just maybe the rough country 4" for $1250. Otherwise I'm just gonna say to hey with it and resign myself to a ql leveling kit and never enter the lifted section again.

What should I do?

While I don't have any advice for your predicament, remember, these are good problems to have. :D

In reality, that couple bucks more would turn into thousands more lol. Don't worry about the price of a 6" if you only want a 4". Can you justify the price of a 4" lift? If so then that's all that matters.

Why not get a leveling kit, and a body lift, and then run the 35's and save a bunch of money?

I'm not sure on these trucks, but I know for Chevys rough country makes a 5" and 7.5. They are same lift, only difference is the front spacer and rear blocks. If that's the case you could buy the 4" and bump up to the 6" later

Welcome to the snowball effect :roflsquared:

IMO you can run 35's on the 6" kit no problem... Just keep it a standard 6" kit (which is actually only 5.5" of lift) rather than adding Bilsteins to make it higher. A Zone 6" kit with 3" rear coils would work out great for you.
If you want to stick with a 4" stay away from RCX as they only provide rear coil spacers to achieve the lift rather than a full lift coil. A Zone 4" kit wit 3" rear coils would be the way to go in that case. However if you want the truck sitting level you're going to need Bilsteins and you're going to end up with the same look as the 6" kit with 3" rear coils. (See where I'm going with this). So either way, you're spending about the same amount of money whether you do a 6" kit or a 4" kit with Bilsteins.
With either of those lifts you won't be fitting 37's (at least not easily) anyway so hopefully that will remove the temptation to put them on.

It's not the price that's coming into it so much as it is this is my dd and I don't want to run more than a 35" tire. To me, any bigger and it's too much of a trade off between dd functionality and looks.

I'm all for what I call "how it should have come from the factory" more clean tough pickup and less monster truck.

I'm an old Chevy guy. To me body lifts are the mark of the devil compelling you to spray paint your truck flat black, add tacky lime green accents, and make some horrible diamond plate gap guards. I have a body lift for an 88-98 Chevy in my garage that I got for free, and still couldn't bring myself to installing it, and I had 3 of those trucks.

I realize that a small body lift on these trucks are almost unnoticeable, but the thought makes my stomach cramp up and a sweat break out and I feel an irresistible urge to buy monster stickers.

The only thing I've found other than a standard 4/6 is a rough county 3.75 which is a body/suspension lift combo monstrosity.

Edit: I see zone also offers a combo kit. I may have to bite the bullet and take a more serious look at one of these. That's gonna take some doing.

I'm pretty sure I've seen several trucks lifted 6" on 37s here. Either way, there are very few rams that pull off 6" w/35s. Most look like there were caught between the shop and the tire store. Especially those running a zone 6" w bils.

Zone seems like the only real option unless you all want to donate some $$ for a BDS.

Zone 6" $1700 subtract $70/$80 for 3" rear springs.
Zone 4" $1600 subtract $60/$70 for 2" rear springs.

Ideally the 4" w/2" rears is what I need. The problem is convincing myself I won't regret spending $1500 on a 4" when I could get the 6" for $1600/$1700.

Know what I mean?

Go with your gut, not what your feel needs justified. The bigger the lift, the more it costs down the road.

That's a very weird thought process you have there, lol.

What kind of rims are you looking to run? And I am assuming your looking for a 12.5 not 13.5 wide tire right? I am going back and forth debating the same topic for my truck. I only want to run 35's as well but I am thinking about going 6" because I want to run a 20x10 rim with -18 offset and i have not been able to figure out if I will definitely clear that without rubbing with only a 4". If I can clear that combo, I think 4" zone is the way I am going.

To be honest with you, if it hadn't been for my 83" garage door opening, I probably would have been beating my brains around same as you wondering which to do. My garage door dictated that I would only get a 4". Now, the good part . . . Looking at it now, I'm so glad I have the 4". Zone 4" with 3" rear coils and the Bils set at 0.7 is perfect with 35's. At some point I may try the Bils at 1.4", but I'm in no hurry. It looks lifted, the 35's don't look stuffed, the 0 offset wheels give it a great stance, and the ride and handling is better than stock. I'll tell you one thing . . . Long after the money is spent, the only thing that matters is that the truck is set up exactly the way you want it. Don't get a 6" instead of a 4" just because you feel like you're missing out on a deal for those extra 2". Good luck . . . Hope you can make a decision before they have to lock you up in a rubber room with the funny coat that buckles in the back . . .

I've been around some pretty big damn trucks in the last 6 months ... Not once have I regretted any decision I've made ... Well, other than ordering the truck with 3.55's instead of 3.92's ... I could kick myself in the pants for that one
