Well I ran 1/8th mile. Not sure if I should be happy or mad.

Best time was 9.11 @77mph with a terrible 60’. Ran in 2wd, with everything the way I Drive it everyday. 20x12 wheels etc. I’m sure the 3.21 gears aren’t helping my 1/8th mile times.

I don't know what 1/8 mile times mean. So I looked up a conversion table. If the table is accurate, your 9.11 equals a 14.2 1/4 mile time.

Not having an 8 speed, I'm not really qualified to say your 3.21 with 20" tires are the culprit, or not. But in the 5/6, 4.10 is your friend.

With the hp, and tq you have, I would have hoped for better, also. No matter how fast you go, it's never good enough.

That's a great time IMHO. You need to upgrade to 3.92's and get some lighter wheels and tires and I think 8.50s-8.60s would be within your grasp. I wonder what kind of 1/8th mile times a similarly equipped F150 with the 3.5/10spd combo would run?

I was hoping to be in the 8’s. But being a crew cab, 4wd, 6’5 bed, heavy wheels, spare tire still there and the heavy bed cover, I guess I can’t be too mad.

Hell no that makes it sound even better. My truck feels like a rocket compared to all my previous trucks with these 3.92s. The only truck that I had in the past that might have been quicker was a 2013 F150 SCREW 3.5Eco with 3.55's. The low end torque would throw you back in the seat. The sound of the Hemi more than makes up for it though!

Wait till the fall when it cools off a little. I bet you will be surprised at the difference. Hemi's absolutely HATE hot weather!!!!! 3.92 gears would make a world of difference also. At least now you have a benchmark.

Never heard of a dyno dynamil. Is it made by dyno dynamics?
I do know there is a 22% difference between a mustang dyno and dynojet.

After running my truck this weekend and not being very excited about my times, I’ve been thinking. Need opinions from people like WildOne and Gary.

Will a 87mm throttle body make a difference for me as I’m still running the OEM tb?

If so, will I need a retune or just slap it on?

Also, 180 tstat and clutch fan removal. Help my times?

Looking for easier, semi cheap power adders at this point while recovering from the cost of the long tubes and tune.

Thanks guys!

I posted this on another thread but I think it may be applicable to a couple of your questions. I'm am sure not an expert like Gary or Wild One, and my full time racing experience is from the 60's and 70's but some basics still apply, I think.

I have a Vararam with the larger Moe's throttle body. I'm happy with the results. Each bolt on mod you do is all a piece of the whole process. Each mod, singularly, is not going to reduce your track times by 5 or 6 seconds(exaggerated). Each mod, together with the other mod's you have done will become the "total package" so to speak and you will see a significant difference in the performance of your truck because of all the mod's together. It's pretty hard to measure each and every mod you do individually unless you have unlimited funds to dyno your truck after every mod. IMHO seat of the pants measurements has more to do with the amount of money you spent of a particular mod, instead of the effectiveness of that particular mod. The more you paid, the faster your truck feels.

Jay made a good point. Seat time on the track goes along way. The more you run it the more you get used to how it likes to be launched & so on.

A clutch fan delete & 180 t stat will help. Every little bit helps. Like the tb you were asking about. I dont have an aftermarket 1 personally but every little bit helps. I'm still unsure if I want a Fastman tb or not. They help but have idle issues. A Moes 87 tb helps w/ throttle response. I had 1 last yr & sold it. If I change tb's I will probably go Fastman this time though

Drop the excess weight off the truck when you can. Spare, bed cover, etc. Rule of thumb is every 100 lbs dropped is equal to a tenth in the 1/4.

The weather also has alot to do w/ it. What was the track & time that you ran at this weekend & I can find out the da. That will be a good thing to look at

I went to Northeast Dragway in Hertford NC. Temps were high 80s all day yesterday.

Thermostat and clutch delete are cheap and easy.

If a throttle body won’t do much then I guess I should save the $400.

Next time I’m dropping the spare, bed cover and putting my factory wheels back on.

BUT if I do a 87mm, will I need a retune? That will be my determination as to if I get one or not.

Me personally, I go a little crazy w/ dropping weight. I drop the spare, tailgate, pass seat, center seat & front sway bar. Removing the front sway for the track removes roughly 25 lbs off the front & allows for better weight transfer. The seats are suprising easy & fast to take out w/ an impact

If its a Moes 87 tb then no retune, if its a Fastman tb then I would just send a datalog to the tuner to assure it doesnt need tweaking

What time was your pass that you posted. I can figure out the weather based off the time

The da was around +1700 at the time of your run. Not terrible da. For every +1000 da above 0 your times slow around a tenth.

Listen to Gary and Jay VB,lol. Gary has the fastest street tire time slip and knows what he's talking about. As stated the more seat time you can get the better. I ran the wifes car on the week-end,and couldn't get anywhere close to her times,as she's got a pile of passes on it under her belt and has figured out how to get the car out of the hole way better then me,lol. Experimentation and time practicing are you're biggest benefits, you can throw a pile of money at something, but if you haven't figured out to get it to move quick in the first 60ft you'll never see the vehicles full potential.

I’m thinking 180 and fan delete in the near future. Then wait for cooler weather. Dropped the spare today. It was ridiculously hot outside so I went back in haha
