Ok...so I almost got stuck today trying to get out of my driveway...(8 1/2 inches on the ground, and inclined driveway to get to the street) I know I have driving my stang with a posi rear end in the snow, and have been able to pull myself by using the e-brake to provide resistance on the wheels....Is it possible to do the same thing with an open diff? I was going to try when I get home from work, but really don't want to have to pull myself out with the tractor....

Funny, I thought I was the only one who knew that trick. You can do that with an open diff, but not near as easy nor with the same results. But it's worth a try. In stead of constant pressure on the brakes, try a smaller amount of gas and pump the brakes quickly.

After replacing the rear end on my Silverado with an open diff I had mixed results. Only thing you can do is get creative. Or get that rear end replaced. I'll never make that mistake again!

I could pump the brakes if I had three feet...need at least one foot for the clutch :)

So just tested out my theory....yes, it works...got myself in the snow and tried to pull forward, and nothing but a one-wheeled wonder...gave it some ebrake and manged to pull myself out. Had to give more ebrake than what I did with the stang, but otherwise, did just fine...Good to know for future reference...
