3.5" DPF back. Not stainless (that's $90 more), but I'm in the desert anyway; little rain, no road salt, no snow.

They've also got a "dual 3.5in side exit" but it's just a dual tip...not any bigger pipe. Also a dual 2.5" side exits (actual duals, albeit only from the DPF back).

They do have dual 3" rear exits, but I'd need to upgrade bumpers for that, since I'm not getting a Sport.

What do y'all think?

DPF back will give you 0 gains in both sound and power. If you want to shave some weight down just do a muffler delete. You'll still gain no sound though. If you're looking for sound do a DPF delete

That's one of the later steps, yes. :) But other than no gains by itself, do you see anything wrong with the exhaust?

Well IMO why buy that filter back exhaust if there is no gain from it? You'll only need to replace it with a delete exhaust once you get rid of the filter.

If I were you I'd just swap the exhaust

Let me ask a more pointed question then: is there anything wrong with that product? Type of metal used, diameter, price for value, or anything else? Not asking about application or immediate benefits.

The whole thing comes down to price for value and that question has already been answered. With a DPF back exhaust you are gaining absolutely nothing over the stock exhaust. So the value is $0 compared to what you have now. So you're paying $250 for something that really is of no value to you. My question is why?

So to go through your questions:

1) Is there anything wrong with that product? No, but there's nothing wrong with the exhaust that's currently on your truck either.
2) Type of metal used? It's lower quality than what your stock exhaust is made of. Stock exhaust is 409 stainless.
3) Diameter? In this application, pipe is pipe. A 3.5" diameter doesn't benefit you at all.
4) Price for value? See answer above.

We're not trying to bash on you, just stating the facts. Personally I'd save your money and just buy an exhaust tip for your stock exhaust and throw it on. It will give you the same end result. That's the same thing I recommend to Cummins guys that have looked at DPF back systems.

Thanks for the four answers. That's all I really wanted. The info about the stock exhaust being 409 stainless is one of the key things I was looking for.

Again, I wasn't asking "hey, I wanna put this on my truck RIGHT NOW with no other mods". I appreciate the desire to help, and to go above and beyond for the cause of helping, but value judgments are for me to make. I'm just asking for facts. I already got "it won't do anything without a DPF delete", and I accept that.

I guess I just don't understand why it's so hard to answer the question I'm asking before skipping ahead to "this is how I'd do it if it was mine". It's not that I don't appreciate that info; I do. It's just that I have specific things I want to know first. Maybe it goes hand in hand with the "everybody needs a Hemi" worldview or something, where many people think there's only one "right" way to buy or mod a truck. I dunno.

Either way, thanks for the answers. I got what I asked for, and I got more, and I appreciate it all.
