Interesting.. I am not up todate on all that stuff but do know what I posted. Dodge uses Homelink and I always wondered how it grabbed the codes if they were rolling ( I thought there was some kind of Homelink transceiver) . I guess it just makes it a bit harder like cracking WEP WiFi passwords. Figured it was only a matter of time, just didnt think it already happened. Good info! ty

They could add 128bit RSA encryption but now your garage door opener is going to cost 10 fold what it is now lol, im sure that is an option if money's no object for all things remote.. but for your 40k$ truck.. just be smart. Oh and get a dog or stay armed if you worry about personal and home security in general.. This is the world we live in, there's always someone nearby that wants your ****, whether its your life or your property.. Stay safe ppl!

Very good points. There is always someone out there looking to take what's yours.

And yeah from the way I understand it, capturing rolling codes vs non-rolling codes is similar to cracking WPA vs WEP WiFi passwords - it's a little more difficult but not impossible. When I used the homelink to grab the codes from my new garage door opener, it took about 10 seconds longer than it did with the old one (non-rolling).

Intersting on the Garage door openers. in my 09 and my garage door opener which is about 2 years old Chamberlain, the Dodge would not read the remote control. I had to push the learn button on the opener itself and then go push the button in my dodge to get it to program with the rolling codes.

had this happen in my neighborhood last month. Hit an entire street. Luckily i was out of town at the time and the only car at home was my ram and it was in the garage. Only car i park outside is my company ride and they can break into that all they want, only thing they will get is some work stuff and an old ipod classic. the breakins did remind me to take my garage door opener out of the car, 3 garages were also compromised by using the openers they found inside the car and they made away with quite a haul.

posts were too long to read, so I apologize in advance if I am way off-base, or I am repeating somebody else. I posted about this problem like a month ago, at least, where **** bags boost the wireless signal of the keys sitting in your house, to open your car doors. It may sound stupid or ridiculously ****, but the best defense is to place your keys inside a metal box, like a band aid box or something similar, and place that inside your refrigerator. This was happening in Seattle like a year ago, and that's what the Police were advising.
