Hi!
I have a 2013 Ram 1500, Longhorn** (all the options) and it's a 5.7L

Anyway, about 2 months ago, I would get in to start the truck, and upon pushing the button I would just get the dead 'click'....just like a dead battery. I would have to cycle the truck on and off a few times and then it would start.
replaced key-fob battery...problem went away, at least I thought.

A while later, I get stranded in a parking lot, put the keyfob up to the button, and it just click. Can do this 20 times or so and finally the truck will start....

This is getting a bit scary, this morning I was 30 min late to work because my truck decided it didnt want to start.

What I'm doing about it currently?
- new battery, was installed a month ago. made no difference
- ordered 2 new key fobs....although now it's looking like another root source
- i took out the win module / button and sprayed it with compressed air....and it actually did start for a few days no issues
- need to consider maybe a brake pedal switch? maybe the starter, itself is sticking?

any comments/ help is appreciated!

Any stored codes? That would be the best place to start.

I would try turning the ignition on and jump-starting the starter solenoid connection on the starter motor.

Check YouTube for instructions or search the RF threads.

When the starter solenoid fails to activate, it could behave in a fashion like you're describing.
Parts stores will test your starter motor for free.

If you are getting a click and then nothing on a new battery, I would be checking all battery cable connections for corrosion and tightness, the connections / condition of fuses at battery connection and all the ground cables and the connection(s) at the starter. Could be starter is kaput.

You may even have a a cable that is bad inside the insulation that is not obvious. Have found that one quite a few times when I was doing vehicle electrical systems for a living.

A good digital mutimeter (best thing for measuring voltage drop), 12v test light with long leads (and 2nd set of hands) can be a godsend chasing those problems down

How weird I’ve been having the same issues for a few months now. Scary. This morning in taking my daughter to school it did it and seemed like cycling it a few times did nothing. Finally popped the hood and prepped to get down on the ground under the truck to find the starter and try to jump it, wiggled the battery cables to check tightness (seemed tight didn’t move at all) and then next crank started right up… but I’m not sure if it was cables or I got lucky. So frustrating.

I can vouch that no way it’s your key fob because my key fob quit working about 3-4 years ago. New fobs reprogrammed etc and still don’t work, I believe it’s the rf module or in the system in general. Anyway so I always have to use my fob to press the button to start. So that rules out the fobs being the problem.

Odd I have a 2013 1500 as well with all the options.

update: ordered a new ignition switch / WIN unit tonight, oe/mopar 107$
I had programmed a fresh key using alpha obd and it still intermittently is not able to start. I noticed the position of touching the key on the button made a difference

Update: this button/module must have NOT fixed the problem. My push to start worked for like 2 weeks. today I got stranded in a parking lot for 45 min.

I tried 2 different fobs I had with me, touching the button w/ fob, locking the truck, every position and combination of letting the truck turn off, lock, etc...

I'm now thinking the slight leak over the driver side back corner (observed water before) im locating the RF hub and antennas, there is a leak in the roof at the top/back cabin. So far there is a hub, and antenna below it. they dont look like water have touched them. I'm about to look at the one near the shark fin, which I think is where it's dribbling.
