My truck has been, shall we say, modified to some degree. It was this way when I bought it. I'm about to install a modified transmission, and since there wasn't an AutoCal in there when I took possession, I'm making the assumption that the ECM was unlocked so that the programming could take place. Can anyone confirm that the ECM is now unlocked if there was a modification done to the truck? Just want to make sure that I don't have to jump through hoops in AlfaOBD before I install some new files on there.

you are talking apples and oranges here

"unlocked ECM" is writing fuel maps and timing curve territory

alphaOBD is making light bulbs come on that the factory had set to be off

since you mentioned a transmission, i take it you want to mess with shift points?
i honestly dont know if alphaOBD does that

but if it does, it will do it on a "locked" ECM

if it does not, you need HPtuners or the like, and they will be able to tell you if it has been unlocked or not

HP is something I'd stay away from. For the price point, you're better off with an AutoCal. My question is basically this: Since beating about the bush isn't working, if a truck has already been deleted and tuned, is the ECM still unlocked or is it relocked after a tune is performed?

i am not familiar with autocal, but i can tell you this, when i had one shop work on my truck they used HPtuners

a while later i added headers and had to have it retuned, i used a different shop, and they also used HPtuners, and were able to go to town

so, with HPtuners, they will NOT relock the ECM after a tune
