I figured i'd give this section of the forum a shot about a problem i'm having.

I have a 2010 JD X540. It isn't running right, it seems to miss or skip and seems to fire on one cylinder.

So, I hooked up my Western Auto timing light to one plug wire with the engine running and it shows a constant firing. When i switched to the left side, the light isn't as steady, and when i increase RPMs. it shows nothing, but, once i lower the RPMs the light once again flashes sporadically.

I just changed to ECM and the problem is still there, so. could it be just a bad coil? I'm just trying to be sure before i get into all that.

Lawnmower? Or a tractor? Is this a two cylinder kohler or Kawasaki.

AI says:

If your John Deere X540 is only running on one cylinder, check the spark plug and ignition components, as even new parts can be faulty. Additionally, ensure that the air gap is set correctly and inspect the grounding wire for any issues.
