Any way to unlock the nav without paying for the U-conn subscription?

You have a couple of options. None require any subscription. The dealer can activate it, or you can buy a different radio with nav and sell yours.

Nav and Uconnect subscription are 2 different things. No you cannot unlock the Nav for free. You can pay a dealer or find a seller on ebay (which is a cheaper option) to sell you the unlock code.

As noted above U-Connect and Navigation are two separate things.

I refused to pay the $225+ for the u-connect when my free trial ran out and my Nav still works just fine.

I thought so. Thank you Well at $18.00/month for Uconnect. I can’t just pay that I feel like I get enough for the $

The eBay guy that sells it is legit. I bought it for my Ram year before last I think it was and it only took a few minutes to install. It’s kind of a pain in the ass to use though and occasionally will send you to the wrong place that being said Google maps works a hell of a lot better and is easier to use.

I don't know about Apple car play but if you can get a unit (OEM or aftermarket) that supports Android Auto you'll be able to use Google maps right from your phone.

The difference is with OEM units you'll have to use a physical USB connection where some aftermarket units support Bluetooth AA.
