Engine for fuel economy- 4.7 or 5.7?

I would focus on total cost of ownership, not just the fuel economy. Most of what I know about the 4.7 comes from Jeeps, where the long term reliability is not good. Can’t say if that’s true in a 3G Ram. In general I’d expect a larger engine under lower stress to have fewer repairs later in life doing towing.

I would ask if the 5.7 will likely include better engine and trans cooling, or a beefier transmission spec. Those type of differences might save some repairs as it ages.

I agree completely, I drive high performance V8 cars, large displacement V8 trucks, and a V10 truck because I like the performance. Gas mileage is not really part of the equation. Like I said earlier, the trade offs in poor performance, no towing power, and small cabin size many make to get an extra 3 or 4 MPG really makes no sense.
