Personally i think you'd be better off doing a filter relocation instead of an oil cooler. Adding an oil cooler will cut down on your oil pressure and flow, and the 5.7 is already flow limited. If you plan on adding the Hellcat oil pump, then go for it,but with the stock pump i wouldn't reconmend one. You could step up to a dual filter relocation kit and run either a 180 or 190 coolant thermostat, and that'll help bring your oil temps down. I run a 180 thermostat and dual filters, and my oil temps very rarely get over 200F,i have to be really beating on the truck to get the oil temps above 200F.
What oil filter relocation kit do you have?

I run a Transdapt 1227 kit that i've upgraded to 5/8" (-10) hoses and high flow fittings, and i also gave it a minor port job,by rounding off all the sharp corners i could get at with a die grinder.

Where did you source your fittings? Transdapt makes a kit (1727) that looks like will work with 90 degree at the base.

Not sure who you're asking, but i got my Performance World fittings from the local speed shop.

You need 4 of these too.

What sort of real world temp drops have you guys seen with the external oil cooler/filter relocation? What about oil pressure with the stock oil pump after doing this?

I've seen, just as some of the other guys on this thread mention, high oil temps when towing and going up hills where the engine is sustaining 3 to 3500 RPM.... I've seen the oil at 260 and I'm running a 180° thermostat but still see my water temps climb over 220.... A larger radiator will easily fix the water but the oil is a little harder especially if you are concerned with a pressure drop.

Only way to do an oil cooler is with a filter relocate. Some trucks have a oil to water sandwich style cooler above the oil filter already. Mine does. It helps to heat the oil faster at startup and the oil can’t go to far above coolant temp. I also use a filter relocation kit and my filter gets airflow across it which helped bring temps down. I’m not sure by how much since I did it about the same time as my 190° tstat which brought my oil temp down too.
A stock engine (using a composite example) typically has oil temps approaching the low to mid 300's degrees. Even the "Sandwich" oil coolers/warmers keep upwards of 100 degrees of heat at bay. But. of course, why trust it when, as Tim, the tool man Taylor (Allen) said "I rewired/ modified it!"). My all time favorite was the chainsaw powered garbage disposal!

I think you hit the wrong button Sherm.Oils viscosity is determined at 212 degrees,at low to mid 300's,the oils about a 100 degrees past it's viscosity rating. The majority of V8 engines move 7+ gpm ,just how much heat does that pissy little heat exchanger remove,it sure as hell isn't a 100 degrees that's for sure

I run a 180 t-sat and V6 fan swap that kicks in at 185 ;)
