I have a 2017 Ram 1500 Rebel w/5.7L Hemi & automatic transmission. Has approx. 98K miles. When I get in to start it the dash reads "press clutch & start button to start". Again, it has an AUTOMATIC transmission. The only way I'm able to start it is to disconnect the battery, wait a few minutes, reconnect the battery and hope that works (doesn't always work). Local Ram dealer has no clue. They had me replace a STAR connector and then replace the battery. It's still happening. Also called Ram (Stellantis), but they wouldn't help me. Anyone ever experience/heard of this issue?

Have you been tweaking or installed anything before this new feature arrived?

If you know anyone local who has AlfaOBD, you could verify the BCM is configured for Automatic versus Manual transmission.

The truck is not tuned. Oddly enough, the issue started the day after I had brakes done and a state inspection at a Firestone Auto Center.
