I finally got a new system and I’ve been seeing people say you do need to reprogram it and some say no, I got it off another ram 2014 1500 and I’m just wondering if I do need to reprogram or no. TIA

I don’t have a alfaobd. my best bet would be to take it to a shop where they have one?I put in a new, Mopar unit last year and didn't have to program anything.
I believe that on a used unit, you will have to do the "reset vin values" operation with AlfaOBD. But, disclaimer, i've never done it.
Once you report back here what you did and whether it worked or not, i'll know.

Okay yeah I’ll see around and one more question after I install it do I connect the connectors on or leave them off till I have I can reprogram it?Possibly. Or a dealer.
In addition to AlfaOBD I have a couple scan tools. Both appear able to access the EPS module and program a new VIN, but i havn't actually done it so can't be certain that aftermarket scan tools can do it. There is a high probability that they can though.
Otherwise, you'd need the dealer to do it with the WiTech system.
Just fyi, the two scan tools I checked with are the Thinkscan 689BT and the Innova 7111. Since those two seem able, very likely whatever your local shop uses "should" be able to it.
Bolt it in and see what happens before worrying about whether it needs programming.Just don't turn the steering wheel while the steering shaft is disconnected.Make sure the wheels are straight before removing the old one,and then make sure you line up the steering connector on the replacement rack,so it plugs into the steering shaft with out moving the shaft. Tie the steering wheel,a rope /bungee cord etc, wrapped through the wheel, then squashed into the door jamb will hold it from turningI don’t have a alfaobd. my best bet would be to take it to a shop where they have one?

And after I install the part I can then connect the connectors back on?Bolt it in and see what happens before worrying about whether it needs programming.Just don't turn the steering wheel while the steering shaft is disconnected.Make sure the wheels are straight before removing the old one,and then make sure you line up the steering connector on the replacement rack,so it plugs into the steering shaft with out moving the shaft. It's not gonna work unless you hook everything back together. You have to have it installed to reprogram it or find out if it's going to work as it stands. And after I install the part I can then connect the connectors back on?
