About to buy a truck with the Alpine system. I don’t necessarily want it. I have two young kids so I don’t drive around with music playing loudly that often. Does the factory sub vibrate the car at all? Also, can you disconnect it? Thanks guys! Sorry, not a bass guy!

It’s not ear shattering and doesn’t really even vibrate the rear view mirror. I find it to be a decent factory sound system, but I’m not a bass head. You can always turn the bass down from the audio settings.

There's not much bass from that factory sub. Just enough to hear it a little. Not overwhelming at all

I had the bass setting on my Alpine system in my Big Horn set to +2 and I could sometimes see the outside mirror vibrating depending on the song. (I think it goes to +8 max) You won't need to disconnect the subwoofer, just adjust bass to whatever level you want. I think you will develop a 'no kids' setting and a 'kids on board' setting.

Oh, and you WILL be a bass guy after having a subwoofer.

Honestly the rear sub just fills in some lows to make sound full. I removed mine when installing 2 12s and noticed more bass came from front doors than subwoofer. You can unplug it, but there's no real reason why. The Alpine system sounds pretty good if you just replace as least the left and right dash speaker with some jbl gx302s, gives better highs, that's the main complaint with the Alpine, muted highs and needs better subwoofer, so you should be fine.

Adjust factory bass to your liking. Bass helps with digestion

I’d bet that it was the door speaker that was vibrating your mirror vs the anemic factory sub.

To answer the question. Just unbolt, unplug and store it somewhere if you don't want it. You'll gain the 60 side under the seat for storage. If you find you miss it just bolt and plug it back in. It's really light and easy to remove.
