Can you swap out an Uconnect 5.0 for an 8.4 or does that break something?
If you can swap them out what other processes or parts are needed to do the swap besides an 8.4?

Recently I have read, some guys are attempting to do this, but have had limited success. It has been noted that they don't have volume to their radio because their truck lacks the steering wheel audio controls.

Here is an older thread with some info.

I would definatly wait for maestro to come out with the firmware for these trucks and go aftermarket. The maestro allows to pull vechicle info, MILs, Factory aux/usb, factory bluetooth, etc etc. That way when you change out to a aftermarket you dont loose any factory options, and you gain what ever the aftermarket has to offer.

On one of the jeep forums there are people doing the swap. For the most part it is plug and play but I don't believe anyone has gotten the UConnect access to work or the apps.
