Claud, I recommend you go into the 4th Gen. DIY section and find the thread about the 8.4 radio swap. This is very common and many of us have done it. There are several different levels you can go with the conversion. I did the complete conversion with the 8.4 bezel. You can contact M2Mods who is a vendor on the forum and they will make you the conversion harness to make it a plug and play and use the correct 8.4 bezel. You can also do the basic swap as mentioned and just install the radio and then install the audio control switches on the back of your steering wheel or purchase a new steering wheel off eBay with the rear audio controls already in it and then you can control the volume and other functions of the radio that way. As far as a security code it's actually an anti-theft code for the radio and it's a 4 digit number. Every radio has its own code. Once you install the radio in your truck It will ask you for the security code and you enter it at that time, it will lock to your truck and you'll never have to install the code again if you remove the radio and put it back in. If your dealer doesn't know what you're talking about then there are obviously pretty unknowledgeable about these trucks. There are also several places online you can go to purchase the anti-theft code for 10 or $20 if the dealer will not help you. Any dealer can give you the anti-theft code if they have the Vin number of the truck the radio came out of plus a serial number on the back of the radio. If you do not have the Vin number of the truck the radio came out of you will have to get the code online. I recommend you going to DIY section as I mentioned and do your research to find out exactly which way you wanna go and understand what is needed for both. I did the complete swap and this is a picture of my truck that originally came with the RA2 5" radio.Still looking how to install security code once I get it. Called local dealer, not sure if they know what I am talking about. They are almost a waste of time. Last time I delt with them, them took 6 weeks to try to clear air bag light. Never did, found a local guy that cleared it in about 5 minutes. They kept telling me it could not be cleared because it had been wrecked. Go figure. I think they just did not want to do it.

Sorry Claud. I thought you were referring to the 8.4. Basically you will do the 5.0 the same way you do the 8.4 as far as the security code goes. You may want to go ahead and install the 5.0 and see if it even asks for a code. In many cases the 5.0 does not. If it does ask for a code you just type it in on the screen. Remember the 5.0 and 8.4 have the touch sensitive screens and your RA1 doesn't so I see how it may be a little confusing but basically the radio will pop up a screen with a keypad that says enter anti theft code and you just type it in. If your yruck is a 4 door I recommend you make sure you get your RA2 out of a Ram four door pickup only. We have seen cases in the past where the rear speaker offset wont work in some cases when the radio wasn't out of the 4 door truck. If you plug in the radio and it asks for a security code and you don't have it you can pop your old radio back in and either contact the dealer to get the code as mentioned or get it on line. Remember you will also need to replace your rearview mirror and mirror harness in order for the bluetooth to work. Let me know if you need the part#s and I will post them for you. You can pick up the mirrors on Ebay pretty cheap and the factory mirror harness is only $35 or $40. You can also install the push to talk button in your steering wheel if you want so you can send and receive calls hands free. All you would need to do is install the switch. All the correct wiring is already present. Not looking for the 8.4 I want to just swap a 5.0 in place of 3.0. Still have not found out how you input the code once I have it. I just want blue tooth, not all the navigation stuff. I have all the radio s/n, vehicle it came out of vin. no. and of course the one I am putting it in. I have it all except the code and how to put it in. thanks
Thanks for all the info,. Question now is, will any other Chrysler model-year mic.-rear view mirror work. Truck radio came from is now crushed. Does not have another truck in yard. As I have said in past questions, I am just playing with the radios. My cousin owns the yard---Lamar Auto Salvage in Oloh Ms. I have forwarded to him a lot of the information you have said. He said interesting and thanks. He specializes in Dodge trucks and build wrecks or has them repaired. Bought many over the last 35 years, fixed and resold them. Thanks
