Hey Guys,

Loving this site so far, it has been a huge help, even with the smart a$$ comments sometimes!

Anyway, wanted your opinion on what I am going to do with my truck. With my tax returns, what I'll get for my Silvy, and what I hope to get from selling my stock tires and wheels, I'll have about $6k to play with. I wanted to get a bunch of "stuff" done to the truck right off the bat. So this is what I want to do...give me your opinions on what I should do.

In about 8 weeks I should take delivery of a 2500 6.4 Longhorn CC.

Audio upgrade: $2k (not installed by me)

Tire/Wheel upgrade: $1800 (not going to lift. Fuel Mavericks w/ Cooper Discoverer AT3s)

Diablo In Tune w/Hemi: $489

Catch Can: $140 (Still waiting on word if the can will work on the 6.4)

Vararam Air Grabber or other similar CAI: $345 (Again, still waiting on word if the can will work on the 6.4)

Moes Ported Throttle Body, 87mm: $300 (same as above, will it work)

Weather tech mats and deflectors: $310

Access Cover: $474

Tinting: $200

Is there anything I should do instead (Exhaust, headers, head lights, fender flares, suspension, level, etc.)?

Thoughts?

As always, any advice you guys can send my way is greatly appreciated!

That's a big list considering you don't have it yet; sounds like you'll fit right in haha
I'd consider changing the muffler to get more aggressive sound. The piping is all 4" SS to begin with, so there is little advantage to buying a whole exhaust setup.

Really? All the typical places (real truck, auto anything, agricover, Amazon, etc.) all are in the $425-$525 range.

How about opening a savings account for fuel? :laughing1:

Wait, was that one of those Smart A$$ comments you were talking about?
Don't sweat the occasional comment. It's all in good fun and just showing some brotherly Ram love my man.

On a serious note, (OK, this is the total Buzz-Kill old man Dad in me trying to be responsible here, so bear with me) but how about throwing the majority of that $6k towards paying off the truck?

Keep it stock (with light mods that won't affect your big warranty that you just paid big bucks for) and just drive it. Get to know it, and then pic and choose your few, tasteful mods down the road, a little bit at a time?

Sure, that is absolutely NO fun. But, you may enjoy the early pay off and fact that they can't hassle you on warranty issues, should they come up.

* I paid big bux for a top shelf, premium Extended Service Plan / Warranty years back, and when it developed a miss (due to a bad Coil on Plug unit) they refused to cover it. Why? because I had a slip on K&N air filter and had opened up my airbox with a dremel tool. Totally lame. I raised hell about it, and instead of stepping up as there are plenty of tests and data now supporting the fact that even an oil soaked K&N filter has ZERO effect on an MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor), the flat voided my warranty!!!!
Sure, it was BS. But try and fight a big corporation... they wait you out with endless money and teams of legal experts. No way the "average Joe" can survive a long term legal battle. You just eventually go broke or get tired of the frustration and blow away with the wind.

Anyway, this old man recommends you enjoy that "New Truck Goodness" for a while. Then think about what mods you may want. At least then you can prioritize them and not waste money on those that are at the bottom of the list.

Ha! Fair enough, all good points old man. In the end, I'll probably cut this list in half and go with what I consider essentials for now (audio, cover, and tires) and work on the other stuff later.
