Finally put the new tires on.

They look good. Did the installers say anything about mounting them on a 7" rim?

I know 10.5 is the biggest you should put on a 7 inch wheel ..but is another half inch gonna hurt it. We will see:shrug:

^ Shouldn't be a problem. I'd like to go with 285/65. I want the extra width, but not any extra height. Problem is, those tires require and 8" wide rim. The shop may complain if it's an 1" too narrow. Why on earth do we have such narrow rims? They are trucks, not minivans.

People get so paranoid about rim vs tread/section widths.

I ran 265/70/17 on 17x10, was perfectly fine.

I ran 315/75/16 on 16x7, was perfectly fine.

Both were rode hard, long, off-roaded, towed, and loaded.

I really like ‘em man, they look great!

I ran 285/75/16 BFG mud tires on my '97 Dodge gasser with the stock 16x7 wheels and never had a problem. Lots of off-roading.

never heard of this brand, who makes them?

**** Cepek (the man) was a pioneer in off-road racing and is one of the fathers of the Baja 1000 . He started selling mud/baja tires in the 70s first by getting a company called Denman to build custom versions of a forklift tire they were already making, to fit automotive wheels and then later by having Armstrong Rubber build custom off road tires. At the time if you were into driving off road you pretty much had either agricultural or military tires to choose from and neither was really suited to driving something like a Bronco or CJ on the highway and also across the desert.

If you look at old pictures of early 1980s 4x4's, a lot of those vehicles will be wearing Cepek tires. The company has changed hands since then and the tires are manufactured by Cooper now. They're good quality tires, I'd say one of Cooper's premium offerings and I believe they're manufactured in Ohio so it's putting food on American tables which isn't a bad thing either.

I would like to put an e rated tire on my 1500. {10 ply }. But I was told the tpms would not read the pressure right because of the pressure difference between the 4ply and 10 ply.

Never heard that one I've had two sets of E-rated tires on my 2015, the tpms works properly.

TPMS will read the pressure correctly. Done this on GM and Ram. F150 had a dummy light, which became kind of useless as we were running 65psi and the TPMS was set programmed to signal “low tire” at like 20psi.
