first oil change

how many miles would determine your first oil change on new 2021 5.7 etorque 1500? I put 1000 miles on driving from dealer in Austin Tx to Illinois.

I was gonna do 3000 on my wife's durango for the first change. Oil hasn't shown up yet, so probably gonna be 4000

I usually do 1K miles on the first and then 3k changes until I get to 10K and then 5-6K after that.

I did my Hemi's at roughly 1000 miles, and put in Redline 5w30

I change mine to PUP 5w 20 at around 1k miles, then change it once a year. I drive right around 8k miles per year.

I did mine at the 3,000 mile mark on my 21 Ram. After that I will do every 5,000 miles or when my oil usage gets to 50%. Plus rotating tires too.

I took a trip to NJ and back when new, then changed at about 4,300. Now change every 5,000 and also tires rotated, so I do not forget. I also switched from dino to Full Synthetic.

Dealer told me 7000 and the first two are free. I might do them at 5000.

Blue thunder did you go to Ram for that first oil change ? I am not sure what to do with mine Mine has just less than 5K

I change it within the first 500-1000 miles.

You're going to get replies that are all over the map. I went with around 5,000 based on nothing other than I felt like it.

People just do what makes them feel good. It certainly doesn't hurt anything to change it earlier, but the book that comes with the truck says to just not go over 10,000 miles or 350 hours between changes.

From the manual:

"Your vehicle is equipped with an automatic oil change indicator system. The oil change indicator system will remind you that it is time to take your vehicle in for scheduled maintenance.

Based on engine operation conditions, the oil change indicator message will illuminate. This means that service is required for your vehicle. Operating conditions such as frequent short-trips, trailer tow, and extremely hot or cold ambient temperatures will influence when the “Oil Change Required” message is displayed. Have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible, within the next
500 miles (805 km).

Under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 10,000 miles (16,000 km),
12 months or 350 hours of engine run time, whichever comes first. The 350 hours of engine run or idle time is generally only a concern for fleet customers."

I find nothing in the manual that says the first oil change is in any way different than any other.
