First problem with 1212 Ram........

Still under warrantee, I have to make my first visit to the dealer(2012 ram hemi), the other day the gas cap light went on (loose cap?) well, the cap was not loose, and when I filled up the tank it went away for awhile, then returned. Now that light is gone, and I have an engine light on way to the lef, just a picture of an engine (lit up). Also I noticed that the econo light when on the higheway does not come on anymore. But I still seem to get good gas mileaage. It's really hard to tell if the motor is going into the eco mode as its change in feel is barely noticed even when the light does go on.

So I pop the hood and find a rats nest made of blue paper towels (from workshop, but probably scavanged outdeoors, and also some black material that mught be from the Ram. The nest was sitting on top of the motor. I looked around and could not fine any black material (cloth like but easily torn). So I'm guessing that it is some insulation inside the hoos somewhere.
I have a sample of it about 2 inches square x 1mm thick or so, that I can show the dealership.

I doubt if the rat (or whatever it is) did it, but I will scourage the area under the truck to see if I see any wiring casings on the ground that could have been chewed up.

It sits for a week sometimes, but I've been to Pasadena (from San Diego) 3 times in April and also towed/launched a boat twice in April. I do have a jeep for run around town, but the PU has been used often lately, unless it happened in March. Front yard parking on side of driveway, The nest did not look dirty, but rather fresh, Those falkers can make something happen overnight, those busy faulkers.

My first "light" on the dashboard signaling possible issues, was about 4 days ago.

Could that black cloth looking stuff be the same fabric they use on the undersides of couches, matress box springs, etc. it looks and feels like cloth and tears easy.

the blue stuff is paper towel from yard. The black stuff with 1/4" foam attached I was told that it came from the battery lining. I do not see any leftover foam lining in the battery case, so I'm not sure I believe him. Can someone look at their battery case and see if the battery pocket has black cloth with foam? My battery still has a black cloth pocket it sits in. So I am wondering if that is all there is or it also has a layer of black cloth and foam.

This would b pretty obvious but did u look at ur hood liner?

hood liner is fine. Also I scoured under the hood for nothing.
