Made it out to Wild Horse Pass. Got three runs in. 14.086, 13.975, 14.866 (screwed up that launch somehow). I need a tune and some tires .

Sounds like some good numbers to me. My first 1/4 mile at the dragstrip with this truck the best I did was 14.1. I was happy with that, I have a vararam, Hemifever 87 octane tune, (didn't get the chance to run 93 in it before hand). Stock in every way otherwise. I had no traction problems, ( Thank God for traction control).Made it out to Wild Horse Pass. Got three runs in. 14.086, 13.975, 14.866 (screwed up that launch somehow). Mickey Thompson makes a relatively cheap and fairly light weight rim in a 17X9 ,if you're on a budget.Just got the tune yesterday. I'm out at wild Horse Pass. Personal best tonight. 13.907 @ 101.38. I'm spinning like crazy though. These Goodyear Wranglers are not it.
Can't wait to see what happens when I can actually launch.
They're what i'm using.I bought them on sale a couple years ago from the local speed shop for $190.00 @ piece Canadian.I wanted the polished versions, but they weren't on sale, lolThat black one is pretty nice!
i like the black ones but im guessing they dont match your front rims. They're what i'm using.I bought them on sale a couple years ago from the local speed shop for $190.00 @ piece Canadian.I wanted the polished versions, but they weren't on sale, lol
LOL you nailed it,plus i'm old and prefer shiny things. I'm also cheap and wasn't going to pay double the price for the polished versions that weren't on sale, loli like the black ones but im guessing they dont match your front rims.
Someone mentioned to me about the ABS acting up if the tire size is different front to back?Mickey Thompson makes a relatively cheap and fairly light weight rim in a 17X9 ,if you're on a budget.
The polished versions are a bit more money then the black versions at least they were the last set i bought.
Scroll down to the 17's,and you want the 5 by 5.5 versions.
Throw a set of Street R's in a 305/45/17 on them, and you should hook out of the hole
As long as you're with-in about 3" in height differance you'll be okay. With your tires you'll be okay,as that's the size combo i run, including the Mickey Classic 3's. You can even get away with the short little 26" tall 275 /17 Mickeys,as i run them if i'm on an 1/8th mile track. The only guys who ever had issues were guys who borrowed my little short 275's and they had 33" tall front tires, but they were okay with using my 305 Mickeys with their 33" front tires. Have you pulled the front swaybar,if not,it's usually worth dropping as it'll help with weight transfer with it off, also pump your front tires up to at least 65 or 70 psi at the track,it'll help reduce rolling resistance. You can also pull the pass seat/drop the spare tire / remove the tailgate / have no more then a 1/4 tank of fuel, those few things don't cost a dime to do,and are usually good for at least 1.5 to 2 tenths. Start with about 24 psi in the drag radials,if it doesn't hook then you can drop the psi by 2 till it hooks. The higher you can run the rears at while it still hooks, the higher your mph will be through the top end.I want to pull the trigger on these, quick question @wil

I'm running a nitto 420v 295/50/20 in the front and I think I can only get a 305/45/17 for the rear so it'll be a bit shorter.
Anyone run into any issues?
If your truck has power folding mirrors,it doesn't hurt to hit the button and fold them in,if no power fold,i wouldn't worry about folding them in though,as they don't make enough of a differance folded to justify the walk around the truck to fold them, lolThanks, this helps a lot!
