Hi all! We just bought a 2016 Ram 1500 crew cab and so far love the truck.
I tried doing a search already, but I didn't find any results.
My wife experienced this twice today and I have once myself. When turning the truck off with the gear in park, the key can't be removed. We have to turn the key back over to start and turn off again and then are able to return the key to the off position and are able to pull it out. Any ideas?
Thanks

Only time I have seen this is when the shifter is not seated correctly in Park. I'm assuming you have a 6sp transmission? If it does this again, try adjusting the shifter to drive and back to park again to see if it releases the key.

I checked the window sticker and it shows 8 speed 8HP70 transmission.

My 8 sp does that when I wasn't totally in park & my 6.7 did this yesterday . May be related to the problems FCA is having with their jeep shifters. Electrical & mechanical not either keeping pace with ignition switch

Mine will do it if you dont put it in park when you turn it off. Sounds like you might have a problem in the knob itself

I've had my 2016 Crew Cab for 3 months now and haven't had any issues with key removal. Like the others have stated , it could be an issue with the shifter.

My 2012 has been doing this. I have the column shift for the 6spd. I bump the shifter up, make sure she is in park, then I can pull out the key.

My 2013 does the same almost every day in my driveway. I have turn the key to on and take out of park and shift back to D then put back to park. Then shut key off and it usually releases

My 2014 6spd did this a few times it's almost like a ignition problem. Or atleast on mine. It felt like only part of it would turn back not all of it retaining the key. Sorry to say I never figured out the problem and never took it in as I could not duplitace it. Mine only happend once a month or every 2 months.
