I'm looking for a deep clean tone from a muffler. I've heard decent things or each brand. I'm familiar with flowmaster more than magnaflow. I'm really looking to learn more about magnaflow. Any recommendations for mufflers are welcome

I have Flowmasters on my truck and Magnaflow on my car with a Mufflex sitting in wait for my new truck.

I like the design and longevity of the Magnaflow. It's much like a motorcycle exhaust with it's straight through design with perforated tube and packing wrapped around it. I've got 47,000+ on my cars exhaust and it's only slightly changed sound. I get more cackle on decel then I did when new.

FM's have that cool hollow sound, but they don't tend to be the best for performance.

I have a Flowmaster in my '98 and a Magnaflow on the '08. I will always go with Magnaflow from now on, I much happier with the sound.

Now what's the difference between the mufflers? I know like flowmaster has the super 44 and 40 series. How does magnaflow categorize their mufflers?

Length! Longer = quieter!

Flowmaster has chambers which block sound and bounce the gases around inside, Magnaflow is straight through and the perforated tube lets the sound waves be absorbed by the glass mat inside the can.

long story short magnaflow = performance/some sound (imo)
flowmaster = sound/ but less performance

however i kind of cheated an got the best of both worlds, hollow out the cat and drop in a super 10. It sounds like really toned straight pipes, but its bound to get you a ticket.

I like both. I've had both, but I think this go around I'm gonna step outside the box and go with the Borla exhaust.

But I agree with everyone else. Magnaflow is performance and flow master is sound.

I had a magnaflow on an old truck and it cackled when I left of the gas. But it didn't have any cats for back pressure. How do they sound on a 13 with cats and everything.

Sounds really good. I just put the 14" on mine. Has a little more interior drone than I wanted at highway speeds but not too bad. I may be able to get a video tomorrow for you but not sure how to upload it using tapatalk

How does it sound when it goes to 4 cylinders

On the Magnaflow is the spacing on the two outlets the same as the OEM muffler

If you want to just swap in a muffler on a gen 4 look at Mufflex's offering. You can't just swap in a magnaflow muffler for the stock. Mufflex welds pipes onto the Magnaflow which then allows it to just clamp right in. Take out stock, insert Mufflex.

Solo Performance makes one too.

The muffled looks good but its a lil expensive when the muffler is only $100

Labor and stainless pipes cost money. I paid 268 shipped. That's about right IMO. Local shops usually only have aluminized steel piping. This keeps it all stainless.
