You might want to check the fluid level yourself,as very few shops level the "transmission" and with out leveling the transmission there's a good chance it'll be slightly low on fluid.
Did you take them this sheet,as this is the instructions that come with a "brand new" truck specific 8 speed when bought through the dealer. ZF figures it's important to level the transmission, not the truck, otherwise they wouldn't have highlighted it as much as they do.To level the transmission, you need the rear tires roughly 9" in the air

For comparison my dealer did mine in March 2022, pan/filter, 6qts of Mopar fluid, and check fluid level, and labor, I think 4 hours.
Charged a total of $947.20, plus 6% Pennsylvania tax.

This is all assuming you have the 8-speed. Don't even know if the 6-speed was available for your truck, but it would likely be cheaper if it was.

I called (twice) my local dealership. They were supposed to call me back, but never did.

The snub gave me the nudge to do it myself, with help from the members here.

At that time, they were getting $29/qt. for fluid and probably $350 for the pan/filter. I paid $170 for the pan and about $21/qt. for fluid ftom RockAuto.

That was 4 or 5 years ago. The OE pan/filter at RockAuto is $300+, so God knows what dealers are charging for it.

Not surprised at all for the $800-$900.
