So... getting ready to flush everything and replace all the filters and fluids in the '03 I got on the weekend, and from what I can tell, these have no cabin filters? and the only fuel filter is on the sending unit on the gas tank? Is that correct?

Also... steering fluid, ATF+4 same as what the trans uses?

Transmission, how do I know if it has the deep or shallow pan? Lot of the sites I am looking at don't narrow down by engine size and 4WD/RWD... I have the 5.7l Hemi 4x4... so... deep pan? WIX 58843 kit?

Also... power steering filter... I see I can buy one but can't see where it goes, anyone have a pic of where it goes?

Looking forward to getting everything flushed and new. Problem with buying used, you never know when (if ever) the last flush was for some things.

Thanks.

No cabin filter.

Fuel filter is not serviceable since it is a part of the sending unit in the tank.

If you have a 4x4, get the trans filter kit for a 4x4.

ATF+4 for the transmission and power steering.

There is no factory power steering filter. Install the aftermarket one in-line of the low pressure return line.

When I look up kits, I see deep pan and shallow pan... on the sites I've seen anyways. I think 4x4 would be the deep pan. I was going to get WIX but read an in-passing comment about some aftermarket filters giving issues and to stick with the MOPAR... any thoughts on that?

Lack of filters at least is cheaper.... kinda surprised though, no cabin filter and no inline fuel.

Gonna need to find me a big supply of ATF+4. :D

I always sick with the Mopar oil filters. They are available at Wal-Mart. I also use Quaker State Ultimate Durability synthetic oil both in my 98 Grand Cherokee and '04 Ram. Good combination and decent price. Mobil One is over-rated and more expensive.

I bought my trans filters from mopar for my 06 ram. Buy them online from a discount mopar parts dealer and save some money. Mopar does sell a specific power steering fluid if IIRC. No filter on the power steering. The filter you are seeing is the filter the rebuilt manufacturers recommend when a pump fails and you have to replace it. BTW, Pep boys have the mopar brand power steering fluid in stock.

Walmart in Canada doesn't sell Mopar, just the dealerships I believe.

For the engine I opted to go for the Pennzoil Ultra Synthetic, because was on sale. Store didn't have a single ATF+4 of any brand for sale at all. Between it and Mobile Extended Perf Synthetic, I'll probably get whichever is on sale when I need to change my oil... which (since I only drive 10,000km/year) I only change my oil twice a year. Spring/Fall.

Filters, I use the Mobile Extended Performance.

Wish I had a link... saw once where a guy tested a bunch of filters with flour/water. Mixed the flour/water and ran through a filter and let it settle a few days. Did the same amount through a bunch of filters. Then at the end could see how much flour settled at the bottom of the water... more flour settled, poorer the filter. Mobil was right up near the top with almost no flour, along side a few much more expensive filters. Because of that I've always stuck with the Mobil Extended Performance filters, when on sale which is usually once a month.

ATF+4 though, NAPA says they get Mobil but don't carry it, so need to order. Didn't ask about MOPAR though. Otherwise, in my area, I think one store sells Pennzoil ATF+4 and another the Mobil, but in both cases they only sell the 1 litre bottles, which costs way more than a 5 litre jug (I think $20 more in total).

Canadian prices of course. From what I've seen online... cost/availability in the USA is way different than here. :)
