Yeah that would be better for sure

I just saw JB1's black rough country 30" light bar mounted between the tow hooks...you can barely tell its there. I think im gonna go that route, but my truck is all black so it will look hidden really well.

You also removed the shutters. Mine are untouched.

Yep, you are correct. Although shutter removal had nothing to do with light install, I got a clearance bonus. 2 trips, same road, 100 miles freeway round trip with some stop n go. Before shutter removal temps 212-217, after removal never got over 205with outside air within 10 degrees

We're getting off topic a bit but the active grille shutters aren't to regulate temp. They are to deflect air for aerodynamic and fuel mileage purposes. Your OEM thermostat is 205 degrees and with constant air flow you shouldn't have a problem maintaining that. If anything your temps are fluctuating a touch more than they should because your computer thinks the shutters are there working so the fans kick on at different intervals. With everything being correct you should be seeing temps in the 210-220 range. 205 is actually a bit cool.

I have a 185 degree thermostat and adjusted for it via custom tune. With active shutters in place and functioning as they should I am always 186-190.

I want it to look good during the day with the lights, not just at night when they are illuminated.

Just FYI, there is plenty of room back there without any need to touch the active shutters. Since I purchased my truck new I have been told you can't do it without modding the shutters. My tape measure told me otherwise so I did it. Started with some Hella 500's that didn't impress me at all. As in I couldn't even tell they were on. (I should have known better. I had a few sets on a Jeep years ago that didn't do much.)

Changed to a few different LED setups before I came to my final version last night. Don't even need to drill holes for any of this. All holes already present.

This. In my opinion, and this is just my opinion, no matter how bright that curved bar in the lower opening was at night I couldn't do it to my truck. They look horrible during the day.

I toyed with the idea of setting it behind everything and just cutting the black plastic enough to shine through but opted not to.

I've seen some of the 30" single rows down there and those actually look decent.

These are mine. I didn't have the active shutters to contend with. Plugged them into the parking lights. First one is from camera at work, so you can have an idea of the coverage. 20180515_103313.jpg 20180515_061404.jpg 20180515_101254.jpg 20180515_061430.jpg 20180515_061333.jpg

I also have a bighorn and with the slat grill it's a real challange to find a light thin and short to fit the openings. Swap to honeycomb inserts and walah, lights will fit and shine through

I am installing a set of the KC gravity led off road lights behind the grill in my 17 Sport tomorrow. I made and installed the brackets last weekend, so it is time for the lights go on. I did have to remove the 2 lower shutter vanes for clearance.

I mounted my 3” pods on top of that same brace and just about in the same position left to right. Mine were small though so I didn’t have to remove any slats
