Hi all. I am curently running a single Net Audio tall box with a 12W6v3. Its great and I really like it but so does my buddy and he has expressed interest in potentially buying the box from me. If this were to happen, I would explore either another Net Audio box which I highly recommend or a Fox Box. I know the fox Box isn't built the same as the Net Audio stuff but the cost is appealing and you have to remember I am in canada so shipping, duty and exchange really amplify the cost of these boxes.

On the Fox Box webiste, it mentions a MAX mounting depth of 7.25" for a 12" driver. The 12W6v3 has a mounting depth of 7.52". So in essence, we are .25" away from a "perfect fit". I know he leaves some tolerance in that MAX depth number, plus could a guy not run some spacers to raise up the W6 a bit?

The only way I am switching my current sub setup is to morph into a dual setup of some kind as I have bigger updates coming for the rest of the system as well (DSP, 3-way components, etc etc).

Does anyone know if the 12W6v3 will fit in a vented fox box?

Considering that a sealed box for the sub is smaller I'm not sure why a ported box would be better. I never have used a prebuilt box I always had built my own out of MDF and built it around my location to match the demands of the speaker. Knowing that if performance for this speaker is the same sealed or ported I would stick to using less space.

If you go with your option a 1/4" to 1/2" spacer will work between the speaker and the top of the box.

A spacer will work to pull the sub out of the box a bit but make sure the airspace is there for a ported application with that JL12w6...without looking it up myself, Some JL's prefer larger than normal ported enclosures. You don't want to go through the time, money, and hassle just to find out the subwoofer(s) do not perform up to your expectations....generally speaking, doubling the number of subwoofers does not mean doubling the output...with all details the same, you'll see a 3db increase.....now going from one sealed 12 to two vented 12's should net you more than 3db IF the subwoofers are in appropriate airspace. Some things to consider especially when being in Canada increases costs even more. I love the 12w6

So if you went with their passenger side vented 12" box it would perfectly fit that sub according to the specs on their site. Its max mounting depth is 7.55 with a 7.5 diameter magnet, and the w6 is 7.52 with a 7 diameter magnet. It also only needs 1.3 cu and that fox box has a volume of 1.85, so including the displacement of the speaker (0.105 cu) it should still be slightly larger than you need!

Larger isn't always better, the speaker will preform worse with the extra space. It is the same theory on the headlights with reflectors they are designed around the lamp to achieve maximum efficiency.

One thing to watch with the W6, the magnet is pretty big and the floor of the Ram has a lip near the rear that can limit how low the sub can sit. Also, some subs have a rear pole vent that needs some room behind it. Not sure if the W6 is one. I have mine in the Net Audio Single Tall Passenger box and it kicks ass.

For the record, 2 12w6 v3 did infact fit this enclosure.

Thats really good news. im looking at running the foxbox with 2 12" w6s and a HD1200/1.

Gotta ask, did they fit without modification and did they sound good in the new box?

ring spacers are required to lift the subs higher out of the box in order to clear the base.
I think they sound great but some of that is from getting tuned.
