Thanks! I'm pretty excited. I'll post the measurements as soon as I get them. I also plan to start a full truck build thread and/or do a mini install thread, hopefully answering some questions along the way!
I had those same thoughts...in fact, like mentioned above...I went from thinking a 2.5" spacer was fine...to thinking I just needed UCAs to compliment the spacer...to wanting Bils 5100s...then Bils 6112...then going full hawg and getting the damn Icons! Ha, still second guessing the investment (seeing as I actually LIKE the stock ride!) but I do kinda rip it off road a bit and don't want things to fall apart.
For me, as is, the stage 2 is already a significant expenditure on a daily driver, that's only a year old, that I still owe $$$ on. Stepping up to the rear reservoirs is just really out of the question financially. If it wasn't, I would have gotten them....and probably the ones with the dials.
My off roading has me on steep narrow rocky trails in the Eastern Sierra foothills and mining roads in Death Valley...just as often as it finds me going fast for miles and miles in the desert (gotta access those mining roads!). So, I run my suspension for an hour or two on moderate washboard and dips/whoops, then I may need it to fully cycle slowly up rocks. Reservoirs would probably be a good idea. The dials when changing from fast to slow piston hits would be beneficial too.
All that said...I don't think I NEED them! The front Icon coilovers at 2.5" vs Fox at 2.0 were a big selling point, so I get a bit more cooling and oil to control the heavy Hemi that way...but the 2.0 in the rear will do for the price. If they blow, I can rebuild...shoot, I think I can buy another back up set, and swap out while the blown pair is being rebuilt to save down time...all for less than one set of resi's!
I've read time and time again that you don't need reservoirs if you're not driving for hours and hours, aggressively cycling the suspension. How true that is, I don't know because I'm new at this!
In the end I have to keep reminding myself this is my normal regular daily truck. It's not a rock crawler or trophy truck. It's capable of some wheeling and WILL be used off road often, but it's main purpose it to survive for years and look decent and be reliable. I intend to buy an off road rig and mod it when this is paid off.
Be honest with your 1st priority with the truck, then buy what compliments that purpose, w/o compromising too much!
This was the desiding post for me, the items in bold really solidified my original choice to upgrade, but not spend a ton of money right off.
