The parking brake light/ABS light has always been on in my truck since I got it a few months ago, along with the speedo reading nothing until about 30mph which lead me to believe it was the speed sensor in the rear diff.
I got a weekend to work on the truck (second truck I never drive it), I replaced the upstream 02 sensor, the plugs (looked like they were covered in coolant I think Im going after the intake gasket), cleaned the IAC, and put new pads and rotors on the front with new sliders.
When I did the front brakes I replaced all the hardware, along with the sliders, and greased the back of the pads and sliders. The pistons compressed easily, and the sliders move freely.
I took it out for a test drive and both sides were smoking after only a few miles. If I have the truck in gear and just let off the brake it will roll, and I can roll the truck by hand in neutral. I am thinking I am going after the rubber lines to the calipers, but I heard you need 23psi of pressure in the master cylinder to open the ABS valve for bleeding, or open the ABS valve with a scan tool to bleed the system so I am afraid to open a line. I have seen first hand a chevy which could not be bled with out having the ABS valve opened with a scanner when I was turning wrenches. Anyone have any issues bleeding the brakes?

I have never heard that issue before. I bleed mine just fine and I have all wheel ABS. I just dot he normal procedure. Furthest wheel pump the brakes till firm then crack the bleeder till no air and then move closer to the booster. I will say that the ABS sensor on the rear diff may be the cause of your speedo. There is also I believe a sensor on the output shaft of the trans. The brakes smoking did you clean the rotor with brake wash?? I forgot to do that once and mine smoked like a freight train. pulled everything back off cleaned it and all was good.

I did clean them I always go over both sides a few times. I figured it was that sensor since the truck is shifting, I did recently lose the speedo completely and got a P0500 so that sensor in the diff is on the to do list.

I think Ill try going after those two hoses. I pulled a tire if you step on the brakes and let off there is some resistance turning the hub by hand. Compress the caliper a little and its free again. They aren't frozen, just dragging. I haven't had the brakes smoke since that first time, but they are getting hot. I lost a sled to a fire caused by a brake dragging so I haven't even been driving the truck.
